There are two approaches to writing programs: write one big program that does everything or write individual programs that do special things. The advantage of the former is that those who purchase THE PROGRAM will have everything they ever wanted to do but the disadvantage is that they are likely to obtain capabilities that they are not likely to ever use.
Andromeda takes the opposite approach by writing individual programs that do one and only one thing. Purchase the one's you want and ignore the ones you don't. The other advantage here is that you are not likely to purchase things you are not likely to use, on the other hand you are self-restricting yourself from ever exploring other potential creative avenues.
Take your pick when you can.
The various filters seem to be independently owned and operated as some of them appear to be a direct port from Windows with no intent of creating a Mac appearance while others are completely Mac like. Despite the changes in appearance, they do all have the same aspect of controls and features.
Somewhere on every filter is an icon of an Andromeda galaxy (also looking a bit like an ear, but it is supposed to be a galaxy), that when clicked on provides the user the "About" information of the filter and also serves as a pathway to the Preferences for that filter. While each filter has a "Help" window region where popup information shows when moving the mouse over any given component of the filter, there is no such help available for the Preference window. The PDF manuals provide no assistance for the Preferences. You are on your own.
Likewise, they all have a "Revert" button. I feel this should be renamed to "Preview" with a check box for consistency with Photoshop.
As just mentioned, all filters are only provided with PDF manuals. I do have to thank Andromeda Software for forcing me to resolve one of my long standing complaints with PDF manuals: If there are pages of text constantly referring the reader to one image, all the reader needs to do is to duplicate the PDF file, open them both up. Then on one of the copies have the image you are being referred to and on the other you can scroll the text that refers to the image. I still strongly dislike PDF manuals, but at least I have come up with a solution to one aspect of them.
Meanwhile, these five programs range from the helpful (RedEyePro Filter and LensDoc) to the practical (Perspective), and to the artistic (VariFocus and ScatterLight). Go have fun and take a look.
For your convenience, I've set the links above so that each of the 5 programs will open in their own window.
