One Million iTunes Songs in Three and Half Days

CUPERTINO, California—October 20, 2003—Apple today announced that Windows users have downloaded more than one million copies of its new iTunes for Windows digital jukebox software in just three and a half days since its launch last Thursday, and over one million songs have been purchased and downloaded by iTunes users in the same period.

Apple and AOL Team Up on iTunes

SAN FRANCISCO -- October 16, 2003 -- Apple and America Online, Inc., the world's leading interactive services company, today announced an alliance to provide instant, one-click registration to the iTunes Music Store for AOL's more than 25 million U.S. members starting later this quarter. America Online will integrate links to iTunes artists, albums and songs throughout its leading music site, AOL Music, which will give members the option to link directly to the specific iTunes Music Store page to preview and buy music as they browse and read music news and reviews.

Available for both Mac and Windows, the iPod software update also includes faster browsing and accessing of large music libraries, the ability to sync On-The-Go playlists back to iTunes® and a new Music Quiz game which tests a player's knowledge of their own iTunes music library.

Naturally we can't find the link to whatever know-it-all piece we read last week that discussed what this or that analyst predicted for Apple's latest financial results. Also understandably, we alluded to same in the last piece we wrote on the subject, one of many we know absolutely nothing about except for what we read in the digital papers. Poor sales? WHAT poor sales? Idiots.

You know it's going to be cool if there's a blackout graphic of a guy with no belly and naked except for a hat. If he's also pictured dancing with an iPod in his hand, you know the Apple music event scheduled for Thursday, October 16, at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time has something to do with portable digital music players and iTunes.
