SweetMail offers extensive user preference settings.

General Preferences

• View/Toolbar Box
• Select the application's language (it is not related to mail)
• Set the style for the Tool Bar - Icon, Text, or Icon & Text
• Select from a number of Tool Bar patterns

• Fonts Box
• List: for viewing the mailbox lists
• Viewer: for viewing mail
• Comp.: for composing mail
• Print: for printing mail

• Other
• Date & Time: Tick the checkbox to display date and time in the format set by the Date & Time Control Panel of your system.

Color Preferences
• Choose colors for ordinary text, header titles, header, comments, clickable URL's, etc. Pressing the 'Factory Settings' button restores colors to the default settings.

Viewer Preferences
• Sets application preferences for viewing messages.
• Display images inline makes jpeg images viewable in the body of the message
• Show CR & Tab Characters displays carriage returns and tab marks
• Decode MIME multipart mail is turned on in the default settings
• The space key is used to scroll the page up if a message isn't entirely displayed in the window, or jump on to the next message. You can disable this feature here
• The 'Next Page' button in the viewer tool bar can be disabled.
• Https and ftp links can be made clickable, launching the default browser selected in the 'Internet' Control Panel
• Attachments can be made clickable - to open with the helper applications specified in the 'Internet' Control Panel
• Windows can be set to be resized automatically to fit a message

Composer Preferences
• Sets application preferences for composing mail.
• Set various wrapping preferences
• Make signatures editable on the fly
• Scrollbars can be shown even if they are not required
• Pressing the 'Tab' key in a field with a nickname will expand it to the full address (nicknames are converted to addresses when mail is sent)
• Select Dictionary for the [Word Service] Spell Checker
• Choose the size of a tab space (in spaces)
• Add other quotation marks

Receiving and Sending Preferences

Receiving Preferences
• Enable the virtual mailbox for 'Just Received' messages
• Flash the menu icon when new mail arrives (if SweetMail is in the background)
• Select the new mail notification sound from the pop-up menu
• Enable a 'No Messages' dialog box (self-closing)
• Check mail on startup checks - when the application is launched

Sending Preferences
• Choose the configuration of Send buttons for the tool bar
• Transfer sent messages - choose mailbox default destination from the pop-up menu
• Enable an alert message when sending mail with a blank subject line

Header Preferences
• Chooses the headers appearing in the message viewer.

Thread Preferences
• Enables SweetMail references checking for establishing threads.

Keyboard Preferences
• Make your own keyboard shortcuts.

The SweetMail Preferences let you do a lot with color. For instance:
• Text: Message body's foreground color.
• Back.: Message background color.
• Header: Header filed foreground color.
• Comment: Sentence begins from '#'.
• URL: Clickable URL.
• Matching: Words matched on extracting.
• Level #: Quoted messages
• Reset: to factory settings.
