Two great tools to economize on keystrokes and speed up typing efficiency

LaunchBar is a separate application you're supposed to leave running in the background. A quick, user-definable keystroke combination (command-space by default) brings it sliding into the foreground as a fairly small and unobtrusive little bar that appears right under the menu bar. Press space again and it'll scroll through the list of active applications and switch to whatever you pick. Type a string into LaunchBar and it will search through its index to find the items that best match your query. Doesn't sound that interesting...after all, the OS already has an integrated application switcher and a decent search function, right? That's exactly what I thought, anyway, until I gave it a spin. In only a few hours of normal computer use, I began to see what makes LaunchBar an incredibly useful tool in streamlining one's workflow.

I didn't really see the value of CandyBar until I got it on my system and gave it a makeover. Of course, there's a slight learning curve as you try to figure out what everything is on your Dock, since it all looks different, but if you're one of those people (i.e., me) who loves to customize your Mac's feel, then Candybar is a must-have utility.

For me, the program is a godsend. I'm drowning in icon sets, and Pixadex does its job of pixel wrangling well.
