So, what exactly is the point of the Myvu Made for iPod? If you're asking that question, you've never had to sit in an airplane, bus or the back seat of a car and hold up your iPod for a two hour movie. By letting you go hands-free, the Myvu allows you relax, lean back, and maybe even fall asleep if you want to. It also provides the illusion of a larger screen, and—more importantly—provides privacy. If, for some reason, you want to watch High School Musical, you can do so without fear of those around you pointing at you and laughing.

There's certainly no shortage of stores to which one can go to buy an iPod case these days. Won't be long, I suspect, before they're selling them out of vending machines or next to the tabloids and candy bars at grocery stores...if they're not already. And yet, does it seem to you that the variety is lacking? Whenever I see iPod cases on store shelves, they always seem to be the same models by the same few companies. There's got to be something else out there, right? Right. And today, we'll look at two "something elses:" GizMac Accessories' Titan Clear for nano and Vakaadoo's iVak N-type2.

Unfortunately, neither iMovie nor iPhoto are all that great for creating slideshows. iMovie is too clunky with its odd presets and inability to just be simple, and iPhoto doesn't offer enough features. This is where FotoMagico 2 steps in, and Apple agrees. They awarded FotoMagico an Apple Design Award for Best Mac OS X User Experience 2006 Runner-Up. Has it really been nearly six months since I've reviewed 5G iPod cases? Yikes. If that's true, I wish I had more to show you than just the two I have today. Truth of the matter is, though, that most of the newer iPod cases for nearly all of the models have just been variations on what we've seen before. There's little anymore to separate one from another, and most iPod users are educated enough at this point to know exactly what they want. But before you run down to the store and buy the latest from DLO, Griffin, Belkin, or the other heavy hitters, here a couple from lesser-known companies that are certainly worth considering.

With apologies to Joss Whedon, in every generation there is a chosen one. It alone will stand against the Zune, the Zen, and the forces of Samsung. It is the iPod. This generation is the second, the model is the nano, and here are three cases for all of you who just joined the iPod generation: PodsPlus Aluminum N2, Titan Gear for nano, and Mila Bikini Skin.

Shopping guides are tricky things to write. I see them all over the web and in magazines, and it always amuses me when they're suggesting $800 cameras and $400 iPods. I don't know what you all do for a living, but I don't do the kind of the thing that would allow me to spend $800 on everyone I know combined, let alone one gift for one person. Maybe if you'd all hurry up and get my play produced in your town, that'd change. Until then, I'll keep the costs a little lower with iPod cases, headphones and viewers.

Seems like every time I go to review some iPod cases, Apple updates the design, rendering the cases obsolete. So, before that happens again, let's get right to this, bearing in mind that these cases are for the 1st generation black and white iPod nano models, not the new colorful ones. We look at the nano See-Thru, iPod nano SkinTight, nano SportGrip and Crystal Solid nano Case.

Why pay the auto dealer for a DVD player when you can buy an iLuv for less, get iPod compatibility, and be able to remove it from the car when you to watch it elsewhere. The battery life isn't great, but as long as you're near a power source either at home or in the car, that won't be an issue. Again, you can do better for a portable DVD player, but the iPod compatibility and overall portability make this well worth it.

The earphones included with Apple's iPod are barely good enough for the iPod, for example. I have a pair of Altec Lansing headphones that are decent for music, but not so much for movies and games (unless I press them against my ears). I recently reviewed the Griffin EarThumps, and found the lower ranges a bit muddy, but the highs and mids were quite clear. That's pretty much how it is with the Icemat Siberia In:Ear Headset, but there's more here to consider.

Before Apple sits down at the table this Thanksgiving for food and festivities, they better give thanks to Digital Lifestyle Outfitters (DLO) for the HomeDock Deluxe, which easily connects your iPod to your television via an AV or S-video cable. The benefit of the HomeDock Deluxe over most other iPod to TV devices is that it actually displays the iPod information on your TV. Kind of.
