Book Review - iPod Shuffle Fan Book1868

iPod Shuffle Fan BookiPod Shuffle Fan Book isn't the most detailed resource out there, but it's not really meant to be. It's light and stylish, like the iPod Shuffle itself, and it offers about as much as the iPod shuffle offers. It's designed to look good on the coffee table, not on the shelf with the computer manuals, and needs to be considered as such. Although Shuffle owners will learn a few things from it, I think it's better put to use as an iPod shuffle marketing tool; a chance for others to see what the Shuffle can do since, you know, you're not going to share yours with them.

Review: InDesign CS/CS2 Breakthroughs2350

Besides having one of the more irrelevant cover designs I've seen in ages, InDesign CS/CS2 Breakthroughs does have a good collection of tidbit information. This is a book that does not intend to teach you how to use InDesign. Rather, it is a book that is intended to fill out the details you might have missed at some point while learning how to use, the very powerful, InDesign.

Review: Special Edition Using FileMaker 71628

This is a wonderful book for those who want more out of FileMaker than creating a simple personal information manager for themselves. In other words, just about all of those who create FileMaker solutions and/or wish to enhance and improve their databases will find great value from Special Edition Using FileMaker 7.

Review: Sams Teach Yourself FileMaker 7 in 24 Hours1803

There have been several milestones in the FileMaker program, and version 7 was one of those milestones. As it turned out, there was a double-whammy: not only were the changes in FileMaker extensive, the FileMaker company chose to essentially drop any viable documentation for the program. The pamphlet that shipped with the program was surprisingly pathetic. Either way, it was up to third-party writers to fill the information void and supply users the "how to" that had been dropped by the company. "Sams Teach yourself FileMaker 7 in 24 Hours" can do a reasonable job getting most people started, but the road might be a bit bumpy for some.

Review: Photoshop CS2: Up to Speed1743

For what it's worth, I've been waiting for this book for as long as I can remember. Not necessarily this book in specific, but this type of book. "uptospeed: Photoshop CS2" deals exclusively with only the new features found in Photoshop CS2. It does not tell you how to do anything in a feature that came out before PSCS2, but the book excellently breaks down, explains how, and informs how and when to use PSCS2's new features.

Review: The Photoshop CS2 Book for Digital Photographers1533

In his latest book, Scott Kelby presents a "how to" book that is structured like his "Killer Tips" books, but with more focus and better structure. What will strike you first when you open this book is the lack of words. It's not that there are no words, but rather there are lots and lots of photos and screen shots.

"I would rate iPod & iTunes: The Missing Manual as an extraordinarily effective member of the Missing Manuals family, all of which are outstanding"
