ThinkMac Software has announced iKana touch 1.0 for the iPhone and iPod Touch. iKana is an application for learning the Japanese phonetic scripts: hiragana and katakana. iKana touch features flash cards with stroke animations, spoken sound clips and example words.

iKana touch offers a speed recognition test and a writing test to aide memorisation. In the speed test you have to correctly identify a character before the time runs out. In the writing test you have to correctly trace each stroke in a character.

iKana touch is available for download and purchase in the App Store and iTunes. It is priced at $7.99 USD in the US, £4.99 in the UK and 5.99 Euro in the EU. ThinkMac Software also sells iKana for Mac OS X.
