POP3it allows you to download email from any POP3 email server directly into a FileMaker database. Because POP3it is a plug-in, you do not need any other application in order to receive email. Everything can be done within the FileMaker environment.
Unsupported Software

As of September 1, 2007, this plug-in is officially retired and is no longer supported. Any bugs or problems this plug-in may have will not be fixed. If you are using FileMaker Pro 7 or above, we highly recommend you use POP3it Pro, especially since POP3it Pro is supported software.

A few possible uses:
Using FileMaker to access your email through POP3it can be an extremely powerful thing. You can check what email is on your server and decide how to respond appropriately. For example, if you have a shared email account, you can choose to only download messages that are for you. Likewise, you can filter your account and only receive certain types of messages in FileMaker, and use your normal email client to download the rest of your email as you normally would.

Because POP3it allows you to specify in your scripts what email host and email account to check, you can easily check multiple accounts. Together with SMTPit, you can make an entire email solution with only FileMaker and make use of FileMaker's database features like sorting and searching.

Another great use of POP3it it to parse out messages you receive from email forms on the web. Using FileMaker's own built in parsing functions make such a solution a snap.

POP3it Features:

  • Extract any email header such as To, From, Subject, and even custom headers created by SMTPit.

  • Attachments are placed in any directory you specify, and can be changed at any time.

  • Download specific body types such as Text only or HTML only.

  • Save HTML messages which can then be opened with your web browser for viewing.

  • Support for Japanese and Central and Eastern European characters.

  • Status Window to show you what POP3it is doing at all times.

  • AutoCheckEmail function for checking email at a user specified interval.

  • PathToDB function for returning the path to the folder containing your database on the hard drive.

  • APOP support.

  • CurrDate function returns dates that can easily be converted to FileMaker Pro
