Mac OS X 10.5: Time Machine May Still Use Original Backup Location After Changing Backup Destination
After changing Time Machine's backup disk destination to a different volume (such as a different network volume or external disk), backups may still be made to the previously-selected volume.
This can happen if both the previous and new backup location remain mounted in the Finder.

Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
Time Machine
Solution:
If both locations need to remain mounted (available) in the Finder, log out and then log back in. Time Machine should now use the expected backup location.
