OS X 10.5 Leopard is a cat that's turning out to have a fair few fleas. Apple has released a gaggle of A Knowledge Base articles on how to cope, plus a new developer note document. Here's are more profiles of and links to more recent articles posted.

Mac OS X 10.5: Finder may not fully "load"

With Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, the Finder may not fully "load." The Finder might not respond (the Force Quit Window may also not respond), or you may only see a Finder menubar with only Spotlight and the Apple menu on it.

Products affected
• Mac OS X 10.5

Mac OS X 10.5: Unable to start up after installing Apogee audio drivers

Installing earlier Apogee audio drivers may prevent Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard from starting up.

Note: Mac OS X 10.4.x installations with older Apogee drivers that are updated to Leopard are not affected by this issue.

Products affected
• Mac OS X 10.5
• Apogee Ensemble Initial Installer 1.1.6 or previous
• Apogee Symphony Installer 1.3.1 or previous

iPhoto: Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard does not include support for iPhoto 2

Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard does not include support for iPhoto 2.

Affected products
• iPhoto 2
• Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard

To use iPhoto on a computer running Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, upgrade to a newer version of iPhoto.

Mac OS X 10.5: Time Machine May Still Use Original Backup Location After Changing Backup Destination

After changing Time Machine's backup disk destination to a different volume (such as a different network volume or external disk), backups may still be made to the previously-selected volume.

This can happen if both the previous and new backup location remain mounted in the Finder.

Products affected
• Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
• Time Machine

Solution:

If both locations need to remain mounted (available) in the Finder, log out and then log back in. Time Machine should now use the expected backup location.
