Canada411 2.04

Apple forgot Canada

Apple bundled some awesome widgets with Dashboard, but, as many countries, Canada has been forgotten. This is now fixed with version 2 of this widget.

Canada411 widget has an useful feature, being tiny! In fact, a little "-" button shrivels the widget so you can always keep it handy without wasting your space.

xCuts 1.2

xCuts is a utility for looking up Mac OS X keyboard shortcuts, something that recent switchers from Linux or Windows probably need to do quite a bit! With switchers in mind, xCuts now has a section on Windows shortcuts that lets you look up the Mac OS X equivalent. Also new is a section of shortcuts for the amazing Quicksilver application. I, for one, still need help with these though I’ve been using Quicksilver daily for nearly 6 months.

This widget lets you easily browse or search the contents of its MySQL-powered database, which it accesses over the web using Ajax. The xCuts are organized by Category, Scope, and Object, and you can even drill down to a second cross-referenced level if you need to. Or just use the fast live search form!

xCuts includes tips on the use of certain shortcuts, and it's designed to let you copy and paste shortcuts to external documents. This resizable widget uses Ajax and the terrific Script.aculo.us effects library to work its visual magic. When you're done, click the title to compact xCuts down to a tiny lozenge for later use.

New in version 1.2:
• Fixed code that was causing xCuts to consume unnecessary CPU cycles even when idle. It should now run with 0 CPU usage when idle.
• Also fixed code that made it possible to lose the bottom bar of the widget (including the drag icon) while resizing it. In the process, I made xCuts somewhat slimmer vertically.
• Updated the prototype.js and script.aculo.us JavaScript libraries to their latest versions.

System requirements:
Mac OS X 10.4 or later.

System Support:
PPC/Intel

Free
