Wikipedia 0.8.7 Wikipedia Browser Widget
A Dashboard widget for browsing Wikipedia. Search for articles and view from the Dashboard, complete with pictures and links. Now scroll-wheel and keyboard scrolling compatible.
It's finally summer here, and development has obviously slowed down. I was planning on putting some time in tonight, but I just got back from a 3.5 hour ride on my new bike and I'm pooped. The hills in Duluth are killer. I still have some big changes in store for the ol' widget, so stay tuned. I've been working on some changes to the site too, mostly a MySQL backend so I can stop manually editing this page's HTML. That'll be put into place soon, for the three of you that actually give a crap. Oh, one more thing. I would like to thank the handful of people that have made donations over the past month or so. You've all helped me purchase a GPS that I plan to use biking and kayaking quite a bit this summer (at the expense of widget development time, unfortunately...)
Features:
Compatible with any language wikipedia, just enter the 2 (sometimes 3 or more) letter code on the back. Defaults to English.
External links open in your preferred browser.
Click the 'wikipedia' button to the left of the search field to open the current article or search term in Safari.
The little '?' button to the left of the search field will pull a random article into the widget (Special:Randompage query).
Back and forward buttons with page caching.
New in this version:
Clicking the progress indicator cancels the article loading. Nice 'X' hover graphic forthcoming.
Pressing Command-U will copy the URL of the currently showing article. This doesn't work properly with unicode characters yet.
Table of Contents items don't appear as links anymore, because they didn't work anyway.
Various bugfixes.
This is a minor update, just to fulfill a couple specific requests. I axed the pesky 'beta' insignia; I don't think it needs it anymore.
System requirements:
Mac OS X 10.4

iChatWidget 1.2 displays iChat Buddy List In Dashboard
It baffles me that the OS X dashboard doesn't include an iChat widget. After all, the iChat buddy list is exactly the kind of thing that needs an occasional glance, but shouldn't be taking up desktop space.
So I wrote one. It does it's job well, and it's always improving. Download it from here. And, of course, leave your comments here.
Version 1.2 is now available, which adds Jabber and Bonjour support. See below for full change list.
Changes in Version 1.2:
--iCW now supports all services supported by iChat (AIM, .Mac, Jabber, Bonjour).
--iCW no longer slows down dashboard opening animation for users with long buddy lists
--Fixed a problem where iChatWidget-DashboardClient would crash if a buddy had a last name but no first name
--Fixed a problem where iChatWidget would move when the widget dock was opened.
System requirements:
Mac OS X 10.4
AIM or .Mac account (doesn't currently work with Jabber or Bonjour)
