Victorinox to Introduce Pocket Knife/USB Drive Combo

1217 Old school and new school geekery unite: Victorinox, maker of the original Swiss Army Knife, has announced the Swissbit, a combination USB flash drive and pocket knife that so far wil only be available in Europe.

And while the Victorinox site has no info on the Swissbit, and the knife's own site appears to have been Slashdotted, you can get more info on the knife from The Register, which tells us:

The USB Swiss Army Knife is available with 64 or 128MB memory, plus all the usual extras - knife, corkscrew and tin-opener. The 64MB version will cost €55; the price of the 128MB version is TBA.

Just imagine the looks of terror on your family's faces when you pull out a knife and say, "I need to use the computer."

Bill's been using Macs since the late 80s. When he's not making smartass remarks to amuse Kirk Hiner, he enjoys fighting for the user.

Trouble is, if you’re a regular air traveler, you’ll literally lose all your data when they catch you trying to take it through airport screening.

These things are considered lethal weapons, don’t you know.

Yeah, but don’t you want one anyway??

A travel-safe version is available:

Apparently you haven’t traveled by air lately, Grover.  A pen knife, no matter how small, or what attachments it might have, is considered carry-on contraband.  (They wouldn’t even let me keep the toothpick and tweezers out of the one taken from my shaving kit.) You should have seen the look on the guy’s face when I suggested that he must be joking.
