Destineer's MacSoft unit announced today that Epic Games has created a Universal Application for mega-hit Unreal Tournament 2004. The universal application for Mac OS X brings MacSoft's Unreal Tournament 2004 current to the 3369.2 patch.

Epic games programmer Ryan Gordon has posted the patch at treefort.icculus.org (.dmg file). The Universal Application is targeted for owners of new iMac computers equipped with Intel processors.

"The speed gains we're seeing on the new iMacs are simply incredible," said MacSoft General Manager Al Schilling. "Our time-demo comparisons show that Ryan has managed to literally double the frame rate of UT04 as compared to running on the iMac G5. Anyone running UT04 on an Intel-based iMac needs this update. Anyone with an Intel iMac, who does not own UT04, needs to go buy it now!"
