The “Other” McIntosh’s 200th Anniversary

4757 A generation ago, Mac pioneer developer, the late Jef Raskin, acclaimed by Apple cognozenti as the "true father of the Mac," suggested naming the platform's development project after his favorite variety of Apple - the McIntosh (note the spelling difference), which the Standard-Freeholder's Greg Peerenboom notes is about to celebrate its 200th birthday and will be the subject of an Ontario Visual Heritage Project documentary focusing on the Morrisburg region of that Canadian province and the discovery of the apple variant that bears the name of its founder, John McIntosh, of Dundela, who still has descendants living the area.

Peerenboom reports that the McIntosh documentary will have a contemporary spin, touching on how the name became associated with Apple Inc.'s marquee computer product - the MacIntosh or simply 'Mac,' and the producers affirm they will certainly be talking to Apple.
