Many people have a hearing difficulty where their two ears hear a single tone as if it were two different pitches (the formal term for this is "binaural diplacusis" or "interaural pitch difference"). This can be a great barrier to enjoying and producing music, or in severe cases even understanding speech.
ToneTester tests for and quantifies this pitch offset. Using stereo headphones, it supplies a tone to each ear. The user then adjusts a slider until the tones sound as if they were the same pitch. The difference between the actual pitches is that user's pitch offset.
ToneTester is open-source software released under the GPL.
System requirements:
Mac OS X 10.2 or later
