2469 Bains Software today announced the immediate availability of SpamSweep v1.6.2, an update to its powerful spam filter for Mac OS X. SpamSweep is an advanced bayesian spam filter with a simple, easy to understand interface. SpamSweep seamlessly combines many filtering technologies, including domain and relay blacklists, sender whitelisting, and a bayesian filter to automatically delete spam messages before they're downloaded by the user's email client.

The application currently integrates seamlessly with Apple Mail, Microsoft Entourage, GyazMail, Mailsmith, and Eudora. Account settings are imported automatically and the user's email client is triggered whenever new good mail is available. There's no need to install plugins or manually configure rule filters.

SpamSweep is also uniquely positioned to filter mail for an iPhone or other mobile device. Since spam messages are deleted on server, the user can keep their device spam-free by simply leaving their Mac on at home. This version adds Snow Leopard compatibility, improves accuracy, and includes various bug fixes.
