Aspyr has announced that SimCity 4: Rush Hour (Mac) has gone gold and will begin shipping September 27, to be in stores nationwide by October 1. I'll tell you now that what this press release doesn't mention is that Rush Hour brings the potential for alien invasions to your city.
In SimCity 4: Rush Hour, players take control of their city's transportation with a wide variety of new options. They can create the elevated train networks of Chicago, the wide-avenues of New York, or the one-way streets of San Francisco. Players can develop a seamless mass-transit system including monorail, subway, or even a scenic ferry service that connects to a greater regional travel network. Then, as I added above, you can destroy it all with an alien invasion.
SimCity 4 Rush Hour requires the full version of SimCity 4, Mac OS X v10.2.8 or later, a 700MHz or faster G4/G5, 256MB RAM (512MB recommended), 2.0GB of free disk space, 32MB of video ram (VRAM), and an 8X CD-ROM. Not that any of this will matter, of course, after your city is destroyed by aliens.
