Mozilla Thunderbird 0.7a Enhanced Mozilla Email Client [OS X]

Mozilla Thunderbird is a redesign of the Mozilla mail component. Our goal is to produce a cross platform stand alone mail application using the XUL user interface language. Our intended customer is someone who uses Mozilla Firefox (or another stand alone browser) as their primary browser and wants a mail client based on mozilla that "plays nice" with the browser. In addition, by focusing solely on stand alone mail, we believe we can make some dents in the overall footprint and performance of the mail client by removing components and chrome we don't need. On top of that, the UI becomes much cleaner as a stand alone application as opposed to being part of the mozilla suite.

In addition to the feature set found in Mozilla Mail, Mozilla Thunderbird has several new features and improvements to make your mail and new experience better. Highlights include:

• The ability to customize your toolbars the way you want them. Choose View / Toolbars / Customize inside any window.
• UI extensions can be added to Mozilla Thunderbird to customize your experience with specific features and enhancements that you need. Support for extensions. Extensions allow you to add features particular to your needs such as offline mail support. A full list of available extensions can be found here.
• A new look and feel. Thunderbird also supports a large number of downloadable themes which alter the appearance of the client.
• An addressing sidebar for mail compose which makes it easy and convenient to add address book contacts to emails.
• Online help includes a FAQ, tips and tricks and other useful information.
• Simplified preferences UI and menus.
• Footprint and performance improvements.

New in this version:
• Talkback is a part of the the builds for all 3 platforms. Talkback is a tool that generates crash report data which helps us measure the stability of the product and figure out where crashes are happening.
• Thunderbird 0.7 bits use the new Extension Manager developed for Firefox. When installing a theme or extension, it must be written to the new EM APIs that Ben Goodger has document for Firefox or it will not install.
• Static builds for all platforms. Yielding a smaller disk size and a really nice performance win across the board. OS X bits also use pre-binding now giving yet another big performance boost.
• Multiple Identity UI for creating multiple identities for a given account.
• New inline vCard UI
• New profile manager including new profile manager UI.
• Signature gets styled in the compose window with the same styles used when you view a signature in the message window.
• Color quoting for message qutoes.
• OS X fix for Thunderbird locking up when coming out of sleep mode (top 0.6 issue)
• OS X: if no Thunderbird windows are open and you click on the system dock icon, we re-open the main mail window. (top 0.6 issue)
• LDAP fix for users using LDAP version 2 servers. In 0.6 you could not access these servers without manually changing some preferences. Now if we don't detect version 3, we gracefully fall back and use version 2 (top 0.6 issue).
• The download more option in the spell checker dialog now takes you to a web page with various localized dictionaries.
• Junk mail fix where sometimes the junk mail filter would mark a message as junk but fail to move it to the Junk folder.
• Minor improvements to the junk mail algorithm.
• If you do a custom windows install with the windows installer you now see a screen which asks you if you want desktop/start bar/quick launch icons for the installation.
• Sorting is now supported in the news subscribe dialog.
• Opening a vCard attachment now opens the vCard internally in our addresss book UI instead of launching an external application.
• In the offline settings panel, some of the settings were not being saved (like the one for compacting a folder if it saves X KB"
• DOM Inspector is no longer part of the windows installer. It is still part of the full .zip build
• On Windows, Thunderbird properly handles mailto url clicks (from a browser or another app) that contain raw unencoded spaces.
• Continued IMAP improvements and bug fixes including a potential hang when reading imap over SSL.
• All of the 1.7 final bug fixes that weren't in 1.7 RC1 (which 0.6 was based on)

System requirements:
• Mac OS X 10.0 or higher

Tumult HyperEdit is a lightweight HTML editor with a preview pane that displays the web page live as you type. HyperEdit breaks the tedious cycle of writing html, saving the file, then reloading and viewing the page in the browser by combining the writing phase with the viewing phase. This clarifies the effects of your changes and speeds up the overall process of making a web page. W3C-based validation will red-underline any mistakes. • Javascript code evaluator.
• View HTML source code generated by the PHP engine

FTPeel 1.1.4 FTP Client With Mirroring [OS 10.2 up]

Developers' comments:

There are a lot of FTP clients for the Mac. None, however, worked as we wanted FTP to work, and that's why we created FTPeel. We spend 50% of our time in traditional FTP clients switching to the right directory (or site), so we created the MagicMirror. We were annoyed with how complex bookmark management was, so we have a single checkbox. We were annoyed at the choices available for navigation, so we created an FTP client that switches seamlessly between column and list view. We like to view files in a variety of ways, so we put in a wealth of preferences (and a quick filter box too).

There's a reason we say that FTPeel is Simply Powerful FTP.

We use FTP apps too! We spent 50% of our time using our FTP appliations simply navigating to the right directory. Accidentally upload over "index.html" in the wrong directory? Oops! "Mirroring" has been a feature of nearly every FTP app to hit the market, but they force you to maintain identical mirrors. That's not always practical! FTPeel's "MagicMirror" elevates mirroring to the next level. It works quite simply:

1. Define a local folder as a site root.
2. Define a remote server as the mirror.
3. Drag any files you want mirrored to FTPeel's dock icon!

That's it! FTPeel automagically creates any intermediate directories, mirroring your local site with the remote one. Don't switch between directories. Don't even switch between servers! Just drag any file for which you've defined a mirror to the FTPeel icon and let the MagicMirror feature do the work for you.

MagicMirror leaves you in control without requiring you to do any work. Avoid lengthy "synchronization" processes that upload 200 MB of Photoshop documents you don't want on your server. You drag, you drop, and you reload your site to see the changes. MagicMirror is mirroring the way it should be - fast, painless, and obedient.

Many FTP clients on the Mac show you both the local and the remote files in one window. While they may call this "standard," we call it clutter. Many FTP clients on the Mac give you only a list view of your files. We give you two: list and column. Many FTP clients mirror entire directory structures. Many FTP clients lack pervasive AppleScriptability. Many FTP clients lack the eye-popping sizzle of FTPeel.

FTPeel is a fresh take on FTP. We've done away with the crufty "local files." We've included column view. We've built an incredible MagicMirror feature, included deep AppleScriptability, and gorgeous icons.

MagicMirror is a great feature, but it's not all we've got packed inside FTPeel! Here's our Top Ten, nine of which aren't MagicMirror <grin>:

1. Written with Cocoa for a smooth, rich, fully-featured Mac OS X experience.
2. MagicMirror saves you time and frustration.
3. Multiple views - column and list - allow you to see your data as you want to see it.
4. "Edit in External Application" supports both BBEdit and PageSpinner.
5. It's freakin' fast!
6. Download and upload queues ease server burden works nicely with servers that limit connections.
7. Bookmark and Keychain support allow you to quickly connect to servers without repeatedly typing passwords.
8. Multi-threading support allows multiple tasks to run at once, and makes the program run faster on computers with two or more processors.
9. Integrates with Mac OS X. Set FTPeel as your FTP helper app and never worry about Finder hangs, crashes, or the inability to upload again!
10. AppleScriptability, baby!

New in this version:
Fixes several issues and adds some improvements.

• Mac OS X 10.2 or later
