GPSNavX 1.60 GPS & Charting Application [OS 10.2 up]
GPSNavX is the solution for the boater that wants to take the Macintosh aboard for real-time display of position on full color charts. Just plug your GPS into your Macintosh and watch as your boat moves along in real-time, plotting a track behind the boat and logging your historic position on a digital chart. GPSNavX™ is loaded with many features. GPSNavX™ is also right at home for planning trips and charting out new destinations. Note: GPSNavX™ does not require a GPS to work with charts.
Features:
GPS Realtime display of current LAT/LON (position), SOG (Speed over Ground), COG (Course over Ground) , BTW (Bearing to Waypoint), DTW (Distance to Waypoint), VMG (Velocity Made Good), XTE (Cross Track Error) and a Satellite graph.
Charting Current position, waypoints, routes and track history are plotted. Chart scrolls keeping current position centered. Auto Open feature makes sure the most detailed chart is displayed for the current position.
Zooming Show charts at 200%, 100%, 50%, 25% and 12%.
Waypoints Create, edit, drag and goto. Waypoints include a name, icon, and description. Waypoints can be saved, exported/imported and transfered to/from the GPS.
Routes Create, edit, and goto. Routes include a name and total distance. For each waypoint in the route the bearing and distance from the previous waypoint is given. Routes can be saved and transfered from the GPS.
Measure Position, distance and bearing (true or magnetic) anywhere on the chart including great circle routing.
Help Provided through Help Viewer.
A world chart is include with GPSNavX. Other charts must be purchased separately.
New in this version:
Resolved a bug that prevented some charts from being loaded from folders that had extended characters in their name.
The Time setting in the preferences folder applies to the next chart to be loaded. If the setting is changed one can select the "Open" on the "File" menu to reload the chart with the new setting. If Autoload is enabled then the chart will automatically be loaded with the new Time setting.
When "Show Charts with Current Position" is selected in the Chart List Panel, the charts will be sorted with the most detailed (smallest area) first.
Icons have been added to folders and charts in the chart list panel and to routes in the routes window.
Double clicking a chart in the Chart List Panel will open it.
Chart Settings Panel now has a check box for showing the active waypoint. When this checked, the information about the active waypoint will be displayed in the Chart Settings Panel. Otherwise the cursor position, or selected waypoint or bearing and distance will be displayed.
The degrees symbol ? is used for displaying waypoints in format: DDD?MM.MM'H. When editing waypoints in the waypoint window the [Option] [0] can be used to create ? or a * may be used in it's place.
Track Capture state is now preserved.
Track menu has an Open menuitem which displays a table of the track history. Selecting an individual Track record will display it's position on the chart (assuming that position is on the open chart). Track history now also contains speed and course. The track file has been renamed to /home/Library/Preferences/GPSNavXTracks.plist

FaxEmailHelper 1.0 Enhances FAX Forwarding By Email In Panther [OS X 10.3 up]
FaxEmailHelper does 5 things:
It fixes some configuration problems, usually due to upgrading to Mac OS X 10.3 from earlier verrsions of the operating system.
Fixes a bug which prevents many email clients (including Mail) from recognizing the attachment to the emailed fax.
Allows you to specify the e-mail address from which faxed appear to be forwarded. Without this, the fax appears to come from and many ISPs will reject such mail as it comes from an invalid address.
Allows you to specify an outgoing mail server to be used for fax forwarding. Without this, the fax is forwarded directly from your computer and many ISPs will reject such mail from an untrusted mail server.
Allows you to simulate what will happen when a fax is received, so you can test that everything is working as expected.
Instructions for use:
Download the application.
Open the FaxEmailHelper application.
You may be asked for your administrator password if repairs are necessary, or you change the outgoing mail server or you simulate receiving a fax.

Mac OS X 10.3 or higher

Back up user prefs 4.0.6 Backs Up/Restores Prefs, Browser, Addresses [OS 10.2 up]
Back up user prefs 4.0.6 is a Mac OS X AppleScript shareware application that backs up and restores a user's preferences and related folders for safety in the event of corruption of either individual preferences or the entire folder.
Back up user prefs allows the user to elect to save a set of previously backed-up preferences in the event that something goes wrong during the backup process.
In addition to backing up preferences and related files, Back up user prefs can also restore your system using either of the two sets of previously-saved preferences, provided that two sets exist within the user's Backup_preferences folder. This feature is a very important one, since it can save the user the hours of agony required by a full system reinstallation by replacing the corrupted files that are usually the cause of serious system failures. Also, this replacement is selective: you do not have to restore everything, but can instead select, for example, only the ~/Library/Preferences folder, the browser files, the ~/Library/Mail files, etc. (see the list below). Beginning with v 2.4.8, Back up user prefs added a feature called "Auto-pilot" which enables the experienced user of the application to eliminate nearly all dialog boxes except those that are absolutely necessary for the proper operation of the application.
This software is compatible with Mac OS 10.3 ("Panther")--but you should not use it with FileVault enabled.
New in this version:
Included with Back up user prefs 4.0.6 is a new addition to this application: BUUP_for_cron, a new version of the backup portion of Back up user prefs 4.0.6 that enables the scheduling of unattended backups using the Unix script "cron" or the very useful freeware GUI version called CronniX. If you decide to use BUUP4_for_cron, then you will need to register; BUUP4_for_cron will run only ten times without a serial number.
Version 4.0.6 should eliminate incompatibilities caused by the differences in the way in which "Panther" and "Jaguar" handle folder and file preferences.
System requirements:
Mac OS X 10.2 or higher (v1.2 is still available for those who have not upgraded to Jaguar)
Back up user prefs is $5.00 shareware

CopyPaste-X 1.6.1 beta Multiple Clipboard Editing, Archiving & Display [OS X]
The easy to use multiple clipboard editing and display utility. Use menu commands, drag and drop and contextual menus to access clipboards. Save all clipboards through restarts. Tools to act on clipboard data. Essential timesaver for beginners and advanced users. Unique features on every platform.
CopyPaste-X augments the good old Mac OS Clipboard in all kinds of ways: It lets you record and remember Clipboard items, edit Clipboard contents, save copied text (and picture) to an archive, and the main attraction: use ten Clipboards simultaneously, typing Command-C and a number to differentiate between them. Handy floating palettes keep your clippings onscreen; you can minimize the palettes, or hide them entirely and access your boards via keystrokes, contextual menus, and the CopyPaste Dock icon.
CopyPaste's main features can save you minutes in copying and pasting each time all day long but the tools built into CopyPaste might save you hours of your precious time. One example is the powerful Email Extractor Tool (in CopyPaste X it is within the Create Word List Tool). To try it out copy from any document that contains text and within the text many email addresses like this (copied from a web page):
New in this version:
This beta version mainly fixes one bug with Panther where CopyPaste disabled the c and v keys.
