NeoOffice/J 0.8 OS X Native Port Of OpenOffice [OS 10.2 up]

NeoOffice/J is an open source software development project created by Patrick Luby

Neolithic Office for JavaTM, or NeoOffice/J for short. NeoOffice/J is one of the open source development projects that are a part of NeoOffice.org. NeoOffice/J's primary goal is eliminating OpenOffice.org's dependency on X11 using Java technologies.

As this project is focused on removing OpenOffice.org's X11 dependency, NeoOffice/J does not include any Aquafication of OpenOffice.org. Aquafication of OpenOffice.org is being actively pursued in the NeoOffice/J's sister project: NeoOffice.

As this is a development project, NeoOffice/J is intended for software engineers and is not yet complete enough for regular users.

Pixen r1v10 High-detail Pixel Editor [OS 10.2 up]

For small-scale or high-detail art, there are only a few ways to create, and those kludgy. Zooming in really far in a normal graphics editor works, but sucks: the extra UI provided by the app just ends up getting in the way. Using a photo retouching app to do the sort of pixel-level work required of a sprite artist is also suboptimal. There is no pixel-art-specific graphics app for Mac OS X. That's why we wrote Pixen. Pixen is a graphics editor for the creation of such art, and is attuned to that form employed extensively in two-dimensional games and featured at forums like Pixelation.

The first thing you'll notice about Pixen is that it doesn't do a lot. This is only the first release, so the only tools are pencil, eyedropper, eraser, and zoom. This means you can get drawing right away and not accidentally click on the wrong tool and waste time. Many other necessary tools are coming, but we promise they won't complicate the interface (in fact, we plan to have the tool palette capable of high degrees of configurability: your workspace, your style).

One new feature of Pixen is "right click tools", hidden by a disclosure triangle on the tool palette. With this feature, you can select the tool and the color that you would like to be used when you click the right mouse button.

Another particularly novel and interesting feature in this early version of Pixen is an extensively configurable background. Wherever your image is transparent, you can have it draw against a background of your choice, be it an image, a color, or a preconfigured pattern with colors you choose. Which background to use is saved with the file if you're saving in the native .pxi format. Furthermore, you can configure different backgrounds to draw when the mouse is in and out of the image area(to see your image against a normal grid or against, say, a grass tile with a minimum of fuss-- just one quick gesture).

New in this version:
• Added support for selections, cut, copy, and paste.
• Added Rectangular Selection tool.
• Added tooltips for each tool that show the tool's name and its key switching shortcut.
• Fixed bugs in archiving, backgrounds, and the preview window.
• Added basic framework for Forms architecture.

System requirements:
Mac OS X 10.2 or later
