Savant to Exhibit iPod Docking Station at CEDIA 2008
The ROSIE Media Dock enables the homeowner to enjoy music stored on their iPod throughout the home while providing two-way operation of the iPod from its entire line of ROSIE user interfaces, including touch panels, keypads, Touch TV, ROSIE Surface and On-Screen Displays in either a remote zone or via a web-enabled device. ROSIE web-enabled mobile devices that provide this functionality include the revolutionary iPhone and iPod touch, and the Nokia N810 and Samsung Q1 Ultra UMPC. “We are excited to have added the ROSIE Media Dock to our family of whole-house multimedia or AV sources,” reported Savant president Jim Carroll. “The development and introduction of the ROSIE Media Dock was clearly driven by the demand from the marketplace and feedback from our dealer network,” Carroll added.
“More and more consumers are seeking ways to listen to their iPods through their home entertainment systems, and our new ROSIE Media Dock facilitates seamless integration of the iPod’s music storage and playback capabilities with the distribution and control functionality of a SAVANT multiroom A/V system,” stated Savant president Jim Carroll. “Thanks to our iPod interface, consumers can effortlessly enjoy their favorite iPod music from anywhere in their home – with the superior sound quality that is the hallmark of every SAVANT multiroom audio system,” Carroll added.
The ROSIE Media Dock is connected to a ROSIE Controller via CAT5 cable. The two-way functionality facilitated by the docking station and the SAVANT control system components enables the iPod to send operational information to any ROSIE user interface throughout the home—this can be used to control the iPod anywhere within the local area network. All menu information from the iPod, such as artist, album and track information is elegantly displayed on the ROSIE user interfaces, and the iPod music playback functions such as start, stop, pause and next track/previous track control are also accessible via the ROSIE user interfaces.
In addition, the docking station provides a direct audio and video connection from the iPod to the whole-house A/V system. The iPod is also powered from the docking station, with no batteries or external power adapter required. The ROSIE Media Dock’s compact size allows it to be easily placed in a convenient location in a home entertainment system, providing users with ready access when they wish to use their iPod on the go, or use it for home listening.
The docking station can be used with all the current compatible iPod models featuring a docking connector, such as the iPod nano, 2G nano, 3G nano, iPod classic, iPhone and iPod touch.
Suggested retail pricing and availability for the SAVANT ROSIE Media Dock will be announced.
