Adobe MAX ( http://max.adobe.com/ ) is from the Macrodia MAX program launched in 2006. This came from Dreamweaver MX, Flash MX, etc. They coined the term MAX and deals with mostly web related technology including Flash and Flash based applications. Since Adobe bought Macromedia, they've added a number of their own applications such as Air, etc.
The conference is in the LA Convention center and has about 3500 people attending. There are multiple streams of classes and for those who like orgainziation, forget it. There are hour classes, 1-1/2 classes, and classes much longer. They do nto stop and start all at the same time meaning that if you take a particular class, you may not be able to get a following class because it has started before you leave the previous class.
Included are BYOL, or Bring Your Own Laptop where there are hands-on classes.

UPDATE 1
Session starts with a scripted "act" of street kids on the stage. Very strange. One kid gives a speech of how they want to express themselves with paint brushes dances, etc. There's now about a dozen kids doing some choreographed thing on the stage with loud colorful images on the screen. One kid is in front working away on a laptop and now runs off. One male dancer is good, the rest do not look comfortable.
I'm completely missing what this is all about. Maybe that street kids can use Adobe stuff to do their art isntead of a buildings wall?
The main song says: "Connect Discover, Inspire"
Which is the theme for this show. One of the kids gave their name, I didn't catch it. Oh, "Blackeyed Peas Peapod Youth Academy"

Flash 10.1 is now available for smartphones (not iPhone). Added is http video streaming content protection.
Flash player 10.1 use about 50% less RAM. Provides power management. Can run 3.5 hours so you can watch a full length movine on yoru smart phone.

1st is Nokia N900 running 10.1 in 2010. He's running some videos and is now showig a "rich ad."
Now an Android smart phone that is masked because it's not out yet. We are looking at AngryAlian.com. We are now watching it including audio. He is now showing Acrobat ConnectPro on the Android phone. He is doing the whole 9 yards of video feeds and changing screens. It's very very good.
Now Windows Mobile. TGO1 from Toshiba. Went into gogle finance and into html. Had issues and gave up
Now Palm Pre Airplane Mobile. He's showing yahoo movies on the sreen. Software rending of flash movies on the fly. Now he's showing Mind the Blox game. An interactive Flash game. Now he's loading Black eyed Peas. These are all loading at the same time. He hasn't quit one yet and can go back to any one including the flash movie just where he left off.
Devices will be off the 1st half of 2010.
Open Screen Partners (OSP), bunch of them including Google (not Apple).
Now he's showing netbooks. Bad rap as they tend to be underpowered. 10.1 works very very well.

AIR 2 works with multituch screens. Provides full control by gestures on screen.
NY Times reader runs on AIR and can be manipulated by touching the screen.
Goal is to make apps for mobile and them them work cross devices.

Now showing Photoshop. Things from CS5. Merging brush colors using a new
brush tool. At same time there is a visual representation of the brush in 3D
via a Wacom tablet.
Now Flash Pro: InDesign's text engine is now in Flash and thxt thread can
now link with full word flow. Added a new physics like engine to have wind
blowing actions and spring attenuation. Action script now has code snippets
that can be applied to assets.
Flash Catalyst: shipping since June Beta 2 is now available (as I type).
Easy to apply simple mechanics, buttons, and other interactions. Bring in
SWFs and can go to "Go to Frame and Play" This lets you build acitvity and
interactivity with no knowledge of code.

Update 3
Now a break showing videos of how companies are using and appreciating Flash

No Flash Player, no AIR, just compiling to run natively.
We are about to see a preview of Avatar due out in December. Avatar was
working with Adobe from the very beginning of the show.
