RagTime Solo asks the user during each startup to acknowledge that it may not be employed for commercial use. Beyond this, it does not require any authorization. RagTime Solo runs on one computer only at any given time in a local area network. Some color profiles for high end devices were left out to save on download size. Dictionaries for spell checking and hyphenation are not included.
Home users will rarely be willing to spend $495 for a DTP package. With RagTime Solo we created a legal way to use RagTime at home. We are sure that this step benefits all RagTime users: RagTime becomes more widely known and the whole environment becomes richer. Press coverage, tips & tricks, books and training courses, RagTime experts and service providers are important especially for our commercial users.
Any documents created with RagTime Solo work with the commercial version and vice versa.
As long as you are not earning money working with RagTime, you can use RagTime Solo. Pupils and students can use RagTime Solo for their school work. For teachers we offer a low priced educational version of the commercial package with full manuals. Schools and universities can get a multi user classroom licence.
New in version 5.6.6:
When RagTime is launched, it asks the operating system for installed script systems (Roman, Greek, Japanese, etc.). Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) does not answer correctly, it reports script systems installed incompletely as available, which prevents RagTime from starting. RagTime now checks whether script systems are incomplete and if so, ignores them while launching.
RagTime saves links to other documents (for example, to the stationery pad a document was torn off from) in documents as aliases, which are resolved on request by the operating system. Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) differs from previous versions as it cannot resolve some of these aliases, thus RagTime cannot open the affected documents. RagTime now opens the documents nevertheless and asks you to point to a linked file as the need arises.
Address Book Functions
You can access the new fields provided by the Address Book version shipped with Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther), i. e. ABRelatedNames and ABDate. Details on these fields and their field types are given in the documentation accessible via RagTime’s Help-Menu.
The specification of a country for address formatting is necessary under Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) only. Under Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) RagTime uses the setting of the Address Book software.
