PatientKeeper Announces Availability of Mobile Clinical Results on the iPad

2521 PatientKeeper, Inc., the leading provider of Physician Information Technology, today announced the availability of a native Apple iPad!" version of PatientKeeper Mobile Clinical Results!". This application is in addition to the previously released applications that support the iPhone!" and iPod!" touch platforms.

For more than a decade, PatientKeeper has provided physicians with mobile access to clinical results, charge capture and other workflow tools. The adoption of mobile applications by physicians has accelerated rapidly with the introduction of the iPhone OS, said Dr. Donald Burt, Chief Medical Officer at PatientKeeper. I m particularly proud of the fact that we are the first health information technology vendor to release a comprehensive clinical application developed specifically for use on the iPad. The initial response to the iPad among my colleagues has been tremendous, and the way in which we ve taken advantage of the additional screen size and processing power really stands out.

PatientKeeper has experienced high demand for access to applications on Apple s mobile platform. This demand is in alignment with the healthcare industry s focus on the HITECH Act and the incentives available to healthcare organizations that drive meaningful physician use of technology. Many in the industry believe that mobility will have an even greater impact on physician adoption of healthcare IT as healthcare information is made available across all devices. PatientKeeper s mobile applications provide access to a comprehensive set of aggregated and up-to-date patient information from virtually any system, putting the power of patient information along with documentation and communication tools in the hands of physicians. Unlike other mobile applications, Mobile Clinical Results offers access to data beyond a single core system, pushing all patient information into a clinical data repository and delivering it to physicians from within a powerful, intuitive and native mobile application.

With PatientKeeper Mobile Clinical Results, physicians can:

  • Review and manage an accurate, up-to-date patient list

  • Trend lab results from hospital-based and community laboratories

  • Review microbiology, radiology and pathology test results

  • Review medication lists and see a history of discontinued meds

  • Review a patient s complete dispensing history (including doses not given)

  • View all clinical notes including admit, progress and discharge notes

  • Review an at-a-glance presentation of temperature, blood pressure, heart rate and other vital signs as well as input/output measurements

  • Review a patient s known allergies, including substance, type (drug, food or environment) and a description of any reactions

  • Monitor the order status of all recent orders on the patient

"Seventy-two percent of physicians now use smartphones," says Paul Brient, Chief Executive Officer at PatientKeeper. "With the availability of our applications on the iPhone OS, we are providing physicians with access to their patient information on some of the most popular devices on the market. PatientKeeper enables doctors to review and act upon health information using Apple's popular multi-touch gestures like swiping, tapping and pinching. Our focus at PatientKeeper has always been to create solutions that enhance the physician workflow; keeping pace with the latest devices and supporting the platforms that doctors use most is a natural extension of that goal."
