1452 Revolver is a new office utilities/email client suite from Germany that combines four important organization and commercial functions: eMail, Organizer, Project-Manager and Order-Processing. Whether as a single user or as a network with up to 50 users, it provides a solution for these tasks for individuals or companies. It's still an alpha build, but has been released as a public preview. When the final is ready, Revolver will sell for $149 (or $119 for preorders), but a free email client will also be offered.

Revolver protects your data with several safety features:
• Virus resistant email area
• Immune against attacks from outside (Scripte, ActiveX etc. are ignored)
• All data is kept in a fully encrypted data safe on the hard drive
• Wide protection against unauthorized access (detailed access control)
• Daily full automatic data saving

Many programs can collect data but more important is how fast they can find it again. Revolver offers powerful search features, as well as linking data: For example emails, appointments and bills to projects. With the “History� function you get an overview of all transactions of a project or an address.

Some features are still not available in the alpha, but the email client is there, so I tried to give it a workout. The Revolver email account setup dialog is one of the best I've encountered, and the email interface is nice too.

Unfortunately, despite configuring two different email accounts, I had no luck getting Revolver to work with either of them -- receiving or sending. I kept getting inscrutible error messages. It would also being a good idea that if they added separate buttons for manual receive and send, and a way to check mail on just one account.

Revolver is a promising application, and what's implemented so far seems smooth-working and unbuggy. All Revolver versions are network compatible. Up to 50 licensed users can have access to the central data at the same time.

The four Revolver versions that will be available are:

• Revolver Mail includes the basics for personal organization. Email, professional address management, calendar and notes. Freeware.

• Revolver Mail Pro will do all that Revolver Mail can, including an effective organizer for tasks, projects, external documents and follow ups.

With Revolver full email functions are integrated even between client/server. The advantage is that you can connect emails to addresses and projects. All e-mails concerning a project appear in the project history.

Revolver 2005 is at the moment still in its alpha phase. Demo versions are identical with the full versions. Without a license key some functions are limited: For example you can only store up to 1000 documents and positions. No time limit exists. In case you require a full version later you can unlock your test version and continue using the same data.
