OS X Odyssey 524 - DEVONnote is “DEVONthink Lite”

795 DEVONnote is DEVONtechnologies' new note pad capable of storing and organising plain or rich texts and file aliases. Think of it as a "lite" version of DEVON's powerful and versatile DEVONthink freeform database and information manager, and you won't be too far off. The two programs share many features and interface conventions -- DEVONnote just has fewer features and capabilities and sells for half as much (or less -- see below).




You can store and manage your bookmarks in DEVONnote, browse the Web using the integrated browser based on Apples's WebKit, capture interesting notes immediately or organise webcams. DEVONnote also helps you sort in new stuff and supports cross and Wiki-style links.

To import a few of your documents you want to manage with DEVONnote, for example Word docs, plain and rich texts or links, drag-and-drop them to the DEVONnote icon in the dock or into the browser window DEVONnote. After a short while, the documents should appear in the browser and are now ready-to-use.

DEVONnote supports plain and rich text files (RTF/RTFD), source codes, SimpleText files, Word documents (on Mac OS X 10.3 or with DEVON's free AntiWordService installed), iChat logs, text clippings and Internet locations (URLs).

Besides simply dragging files or complete folders onto DEVONnote, there are additional ways to get you stuff in. Here are some of them:
