Open Door Networks Inc. has announced major new releases of its Macintosh Internet security products. Who's There? Firewall Advisor 2.0, DoorStop X Firewall 1.1 and "Internet Security for Your Macintosh: A Guide for the Rest of Us," second edition, are all available immediately, either individually or as part of Open Door's newly-announced DoorStop X Security Suite (see "Open Door Networks announces the DoorStop X Security Suite").
Who's There? 2.0 is a modernized version of Open Door's long-popular firewall advisor application. Who's There? 2.0 includes an integrated version of "Internet Security for Your Macintosh," indexed by service. Users who want to learn more about access attempts to specific services can simply consult the sections of the book relevant to those attempts. They can also browse the book on a section-by-section basis. Who's There? 2.0 includes a number of other new features, such as integration with DoorStop X 1.1, display of additional log fields, and the ability to not show duplicate log entries.
"Internet Security for Your Macintosh," second edition is the first electronic version of the book by Open Door's president, Alan Oppenheimer, and long-time employee Charles Whitaker. The book has been updated to include recent security issues, such as those specific to Mac OS 10.4 ("Tiger"). The book is available for download as a PDF file, and is also integrated directly into Who's There? 2.0 and DoorStop X 1.1.
DoorStop X 1.1, a free upgrade for all DoorStop X Firewall users, integrates the product with Who's There? 2.0 and "Internet Security for Your Macintosh," as well as providing other new features such as an always-available status menu item.
Who's There? and the DoorStop X Firewall require Mac OS X 10.3 or later. All three revised products, as well as the new DoorStop X Security Suite, are available immediately off the Open Door Web site at http://www.opendoor.com. Free evaluation versions of the firewall and Who's There?, along with a sample chapter from "Internet Security for Your Macintosh" are available off the site as well.
