Apple has identified an issue with external FireWire hard drives using the Oxford 922 bridge chip-set with firmware version 1.02 that can result in the loss of data stored on the disk drive. Even with the improvements available in this update, Apple recommends you update the firmware on your FireWire drive. Please contact your drive manufacturer for more information.

WiebeTech Ships BayDock 800TM: Dual Drive FireWire 800 Enclosure
WiebeTech has begun shipping BayDock 800TM, its new FireWire 800 / USB2 storage enclosure. BayDock 800 features removable single or dual bays and sustained transfer rates up to 100MB/sec. BayDock 800 is perfect for multimedia professionals who want extremely high performance swappable storage at a relatively low cost.
The BayDock 800 is available in a single bay configuration and a dual bay configuration.
The single bay configuration features a removable InfoTrayTM, which provides real time feedback on the drive's health, and daisy chainable FireWire 800 ports as well as a high speed USB2 port.
The dual bay BayDock configuration features two removable InfoTrays (one for each bay). The dual bay configuration may be purchased with one FireWire 800 bridge (one bay configures as master; the other as slave), and it may also be purchased with two FireWire 800 bridges (each bay configures as an individual master). The dual bridge configuration provides highest performance. As a result, multimedia professionals may easily configure soft RAIDs, providing read performance in excess of 105 MB per second at an economical price.

From MP3 players to handheld computers, small form factor hard disk drives are breathing life into the latest consumer gadgets with robust storage space.Toshiba has announced the milestone of shipping three million 1.8-inch HDDs, clearly validating the importance of HDD technology to creating functional and mobile digital devices that consumers and professionals want for their information and entertainment needs.
Toshiba Storage Device Division (SDD) has announced it has surpassed the milestone of cumulative production of three million 1.8-inch hard disk drives (HDDs), validating the need for small form factor, high-capacity storage to create today's new breed of consumer electronics devices and mobile products.
With its place "under the hood" of some of today's hottest portable gadgets, Toshiba's 1.8-inch HDD has been an immediate success since its launch in 2000. The small form factor HDD delivers the unbeatable combination of high-performance and high-capacity storage, enabling product manufacturers to offer unprecedented functionality in mobile products. Toshiba's 1.8-inch HDDs are the heart of today's exciting new mobile entertainment devices, handheld computers, ultraportable notebooks, portable handheld GPS units, MP3 players, automotive jukebox systems and other specialized digital products.

Toshiba's 1.8-inch hard disk drives began mass production in 2000 with a removable 1.8-inch PC Card HDD in a 2GB* capacity. The company has subsequently introduced a series of products that consistently push the borders of capacity and performance, including a 1.8-inch 5GB PC Card HDD and 1.8-inch embedded HDDs available in 5GB, 10GB, 15GB, 20GB, 30GB and 40GB capacities.

Toshiba estimates the market for 1.8-inch HDDs will rise to 70 million in 2010. As the demand for small form factor HDDs continues, Toshiba is responding by doubling its production volume to 600,000 units per month by March 2004, including in-house production and outsourced manufacturing by Matsushita Kotobuki Electronics Industries, Ltd.

I then manually copy the month totals (cash and bank) into my accounts software and print out the sheet for the particular month which gives the IR or IRS the detail required. This income accounts part is particularly useful and avoids any necessity for making daily or weekly lists of patients seen- you can of course print these out if you want and export the data directly into an accounts package . there is a 2nd file as well which allows patients details to be kept up to date even if your accounts aren't or if you have an assistant or want to keep track of other incomes. There is now a 'one click' automated Accounts Report layout within Reception. There is also an Expenses module.
Receipts can then be printed if needed; the software allows you to insert your own letterhead or that of the clinic

Installing Microtek Scanners in Macintosh OS X Panther
Microtek is in the process of developing scanner drivers that will be compatible with Macintosh OS X Panther. Until these new drivers are released, our technicians have developed a workaround that will allow for compatibility of most Microtek USB and Firewire scanners in Panther. Although this temporary fix has worked for several customers it has not worked for all. Also Microtek is not offering support when connecting a Microtek SCSI scanner to Panther. In addition, the temporary fix is limited to individuals who are running Mac OS X v10.2 Jaguar.
