New Reporting Features Further Add to FileWave's Value

FileWave, a leading provider of MacOS X systems management software, today announced significant updates to its flagship software suite FileWave X 1.6. The new version allows businesses of all sizes to distribute MacOS X software easily and rapidly across their distributed networks.

The administrator defines a model configuration only once at a centralized location, and is then able to deploy the configured software to all relevant client computers. FileWave's network-based software administration tools, including configuration and monitoring, are transparent to the end user. With FileWave X 1.6, the reporting features are greatly enhanced.

"Once software is deployed with FileWave, the administrators want an report on the status of the delivery. With FileWave X 1.6, they now have that ability," said Ben Forsyth at FileWave. "The new reporting feature further increases the value and savings companies receive using FileWave. The new enhanced reporting features give administrators the ability to prove deployments are successful with a click of a button."

The software management tool FileWave X is made up of three modules: FileWave XServer, XAdmin, and XClient. FileWave X 1.6 offers an unsurpassed ease of use for IT managers and guarantees an extremely high speed of deployment when distributing software throughout a network. FileWave XServer centrally stores all data relevant to end users, while FileWave XClient is installed on the end-user system -- thus allowing the administrator to distribute new software and updates from a centralized location at any time.

All enhanced modules supplied by FileWave have been certified for Apple's XServe hardware and also support Apple's AirPort technology for mobile work.

FileWave(USA), Inc. is currently offering FileWave X 1.6 free of-charge to qualified academic customers that sign up for a two-year support contract. Additional details and a request form are available on FileWave's Web site at http://www.filewave.com

SnapMail Goes Cross-platform

Glass Bead Software announces the release of a Windows compatible version of SnapMail, its beloved in-house messaging system. "SnapMail's legendary ease-of-use and 'administration-free', messaging is now available to cross-platform networks. Transfering files between Macs & PCs has never been easier," said Eric Harris-Braun, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at Glass Bead Software.

Glass Bead's secure messaging and file transfer software, SnapMail, runs on Windows 98, 2000 and XP as well as on Apple's Macintosh OS X, and OS 8.6-9. A fully functional demo version and detailed information is available at http://www.glassbead.com

SnapMail is the cross-platform private messaging and file transfer utility for your office. Instantly send messages, files, reminders, and alerts on your network. Unlike instant messaging, SnapMail uses peer-to-peer technology and does not rely on Internet servers to send mail within your local network. This makes SnapMail a very fast in-house messaging system that complements your Internet email. All of your messaging can be conducted without fear of accidentally sending mail out of your company. With SnapMail there is no spam and no non-company e-mailing. You can be sure that everything in SnapMail is company business. SnapMail also connects remote offices securely across the Internet, creating a "virtual LAN".

SnapMail is plug and play software. It installs in a minute and is immediately usable. SnapMail configures itself and finds other users on the network without system administration.

SnapMail's features allow you to:

- Seamlessly send files between Macintosh and Windows computers.

- In addition to regular mail messages, send "Snaps" that notify the recipient with an alert pop-up. Respond directly to Snaps with a single mouse click using preconfigured "SnapBacks" (e.g. Take a message for me).

- Send reminder messages to yourself or others that will arrive at some future time.
