Contour Design Announces Its Membership Affiliation In The Disability Management Employer Coalition

Contour Design has announced that, primarily because of the excellence of its ergonomic computer input products as both prevention and remediation devices in the arena of office ergonomics, it has been selected as a Supporting Member of DMEC.

DMEC is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1992 to advance the development of integrated disability management processes in all disability related employer programs. DMEC provides its membership a forum to discuss methods and procedures for program implementation through chapter meetings, seminars, written materials, and professional development courses.

The primary goal of DMEC is to provide educational resources related to disability, absence, health, and productivity - and it serves to direct members to links providing the latest available products, services, and legal/legislative changes.

"Contour is a 'natural fit' for affiliation with DMEC," says James Golden, CAE and Contour Ergonomics Business Unit Account Executive. "What with our recently acknowledged NIH 508 compliance for all of our computer input devices, and the success we recently enjoyed at the AASCIF (American Association of State Compensation Insurance Funds) Conference in New Orleans, it is becoming apparent to a growing body of people how valuable our products are in this arena. Senior AASCIF executives were "wowed" by the RollerMousePro units we demonstrated in New Orleans earlier this month. In fact, it was a senior AASCIF CEO from Canada who recommended we join DMEC."

Contour's computer input devices are of the highest quality and ergonomic integrity - making them both solutions for existing work-related injuries as well as preventive devices in the workplace. The recently announced RollerMousePro, for example, has been selected as PC Magazine's 2005 Editors' Choice Award and for PC World's 2005 Product of the Year Award. Whether it be DMEC or SCIF, loss control and worker productivity are "hot button" items - and Contour products address both office ergo issues.

Contour will be at the DMEC's 10th Annual National Disability and Absence Management Conference in Orlando, FL, Jul 31 - Aug 3, 2005.

Contour Design, Inc. specializes in the research, development, and design of top quality alternative computer input devices. Contour Design's devices can significantly reduce muscular discomfort while maximizing productivity. This is due to meticulous attention to understanding the causes of pain associated with computer input devices. During the development stage, Contour rigorously refines their prototypes with extensive testing and continuous user feedback. We really go the extra mile - improving and reworking - not stopping until the product is perfected. Contour Design is concerned for the health and well being of their Customers and it shows in the ergonomic integrity and high quality of their products.

eDrawings for Mac OS X Version 10.4 “Tiger” Bridges Gap Between Product Design and Graphics Operations

SolidWorks Corporation today announced it has extended its eDrawings software – which allows users to review and comment on 3D models via e-mail – to include support for Apple Mac OS X version 10.4 “Tiger.” eDrawings for Mac solidifies eDrawings as the global standard for design communication for everyone in product development, including product engineers, graphics artists, marketing professionals, and sales managers.

“eDrawings is connecting work groups that previously communicated via disparate technologies,” said Austin O’Malley, vice president, product development at SolidWorks. “At almost every turn, someone had to re-create a design, introducing the risk of costly errors and tacking more time onto the development cycle. eDrawings for Mac OS X is the latest example of SolidWorks’ continued commitment to make design communication and collaboration easy for everyone, regardless of the operating system or CAD platform they use.”

“Mac OS X’s legendary power and stability, combined with hundreds of innovative new features like Spotlight and OpenGL support, make Tiger an outstanding 2D and 3D graphics platform for design professionals,” said Ron Okamoto, Apple’s vice president of worldwide developer relations. “We’re excited to see eDrawings harness many of the advanced capabilities in Tiger to improve collaboration and help bring better products to market more quickly.”

Hundreds of thousands of engineers around the world rely on eDrawings software to share 3D models with team members, customers, and partners. It operates on popular CAD software platforms, including SolidWorks®, AutoCAD®, CATIA®, Autodesk Inventor®, Pro/ENGINEER®, Solid Edge®, and Unigraphics®/ NX. Mac users can also read native DWG and DXF™ files using eDrawings software. eDrawings for Mac OS X bridges the communication gap between product design teams and graphic teams who are using the Mac to create conceptual designs, marketing materials, product instructions, and other collateral. It eliminates the potential errors and reduces the time graphic designers spend re-creating images from scratch because the designs were completed on a different operating system.

eDrawings for Mac OS X will help companies like Litelab Corp., a specialty lighting manufacturer, accelerate time to market by giving graphics teams 3D models of products to develop effective sales tools. “If we’re giving a sales presentation to a large museum, we need to provide a blend of crisp images and compelling text,” said Kyle Pazian, Litelab’s product manager and graphics manager. “But the graphics team typically faces a daunting task to produce effective presentations under fast deadlines because it has to re-hash some of the same work the product team already completed using a different operating system. This Tiger version of eDrawings will ensure that everyone is on the same page, so that we can develop vital graphics more quickly and efficiently, and hopefully close the deal.”

eDrawings for Mac OS X is free to users who want to generate design files that recipients can rotate and view from any angle with the eDrawings Viewer. Engineers can download eDrawings for Mac from the SolidWorks Web site:

The eDrawings for Mac OS X Viewer is free. A license of eDrawings Professional for Mac OS X can be purchased for $995 USD. The product is immediately available.
