If you picked up a copy of Mac OS 10.4 Tiger at your local Apple store or reseller over the weekend, you’re way ahead of me. I’m inclined to take a more cautious, methodical approach to system upgrades, especially major ones. I’m not planning to hang back on installing Tiger for as long as I did with Panther (about two months), and I ordered a copy on Monday from Amazon.com, which seems to have the best price with a mail-in rebate. However, I specified the free (slower) shipping, and it has to go to a friend in the U.S. for forwarding to me because Amazon’s U.S. Website can’t ship software to Canada, and there was a gift certificate involved. It’s complicated. I’ll probably have Tiger in about two weeks.
In the meantime, I’ve been getting ready for Tiger, downloading OS 10.4 compatible updates of key software items, and planning my Tiger upgrade strategy. Over the weekend, I also installed the OS 10.3.9 update, which will apparently be the definitive milestone Panther build, and is required by many of the Tiger-compatible third-party applications.
