"The just-announced PowerPC 970FX chips draw a modest 13 - 16 watts, and also provide power-saving features that system architects can use to dynamically control the system power, while Intel advises its customers engineering laptops around the Pentium M to design with accommodation of 27 amps in mind, IBM now appears to have the advantage in that context.
"However, it’s not that simple. Yes, the new low-power G5s probably could function quite well in a PowerBook, but they are, initially at least, to be offered in modest 1.4, and 1.6 gigabyte clock speeds, topping out at less than is currently offered in the most powerful G4 PowerBooks."
