New On MacOpinion - What Will The Next Generation iBooks Be Like?

749 In this week's The Road Warrior on MacOpinion, Charles Moore says:

"While the level of interest and speculation about the thus-far vaporous G5 PowerBook shows no sign of abating, there has been surprisingly little conjecture about what might be forthcoming with the next generation of iBooks. I find this a bit curious, because while the current crop of PowerBooks are now a definitely a mature product, the iBook is nearly twice as mature as the 12” and 17” and PowerBook models--the current form factor dating back to May, 2001. The 15” PowerBook is a relative stripling of only 18 months.

"With the PowerBooks getting a substantial refreshment last week, there’s little likelihood of any major PowerBook announcements until May or June at the earliest, and possibly longer than that. Apple went nearly nine months between the last two PowerBook speed bumps. However, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some refreshed iBooks in April or May. The question is whether it will be just a speed bump to 1.33 gigahertz and 1.5 gigahertz for the 12” and 14” models respectively along with a package of other tweaks and improvements a la last week’s PowerBook update, or will it be something more substantial?"
