New Less Tangible on MacOpinion - Routing Through Hell, Part Three

752 In the concluding segment of his three-part series on router networking, Marc Zeedar says:

"One Sunday afternoon I was working on my laptop when my iChat connection shut down (nice "shutting down" whistle). Seconds later it came back up (connection re-established). Then it went down, then back up. It did this every few seconds for several minutes until, out of annoyance, I shut it off by making myself "unavailable."

"This wasn't the first time I'd noticed this phenomenon. It seems that my wireless connection is occasionally unavailable. It disappears for a fraction of a second then resumes. Normally this isn't that much of a problem. For web browsing it means a slight delay but isn't a problem. The same goes for downloading files. But with iChat, it causes the AIM connection to go on and off, signalling me each time, which is annoying."
