The other day I was at an office supply store and spotted a rack of tech magazines. Macworld was one of them. It suddenly seemed like years since I'd read an issue so I grabbed one. It cost me $7.99 and it was so thin you can almost see through it. Ouch.

I used to live and die by Mac magazines; I devoured them from cover to cover, practically memorizing them. MacUser was my favorite until it merged with the stuffy Macworld, then I switched to the almost-too-hip MacAddict.

But soon I discovered that the content of the magazines was stale compared to the Web. By the time I got a new issue I already knew most of what was in it. Even when the issue promised an inside look at new Apple hardware, I'd already read dozens of reader reports and articles on the Web. Being a busy guy, issues of Macworld and MacAddict began to stack up, unopened, on my coffee table. Eventually I stopped
subscribing. What was the point?
