“With AIM, AOL Radio and Truveo for the iPhone, consumers now have access to the world’s largest instant messaging network, over 350 streaming radio stations and millions of online videos,” said Kevin Conroy, Executive Vice President of AOL. “Over the past twelve months, AOL has revitalized its Mac development efforts and we’re thrilled to be bringing our world-class communications and multi-media experiences to iPhone users around the world via the App Store.”

The new AIM, AOL Radio and Truveo applications for the iPhone were built using Apple’s iPhone Software Development Kit (SDK) and provide users a rich, full-featured experience, with added features unique to the iPhone.

(*) AIM for iPhone brings together all of the core features of AIM such as real-time communication, the Buddy List window and the ability to see when friends and contacts are online and available to chat and combines them with a host of new capabilities that make IM’ing from the iPhone easy and convenient, whether over a Wi-Fi, EDGE, or 3G network.

AIM has been designed from the ground up to take advantage of the iPhone’s unique user interface and advanced capabilities. New features developed specifically for the iPhone include the use of Gestures, which allows users to simply tap to start a new message or to swipe a finger to switch between conversations; Favorites, which puts the buddies with whom youkeep in touch at your fingertips; and the ability to easily incorporate a photo taken with the iPhone's built in camera as a Buddy Icon. AIM for iPhone will be available to users worldwide.

(*) AOL Radio for iPhone gives users in the U.S. immediate, free access to more than 350 best-in-breed stations including more than 150 local CBS RADIO stations and custom channels and more than 200 AOL Radio stations spanning 25 musical genres. AOL Radio for iPhone leverages the iPhone’s Core Location framework to detect a user's location and automatically displays CBS RADIO stations nearest to the user. NetSketch brings Collaborative Drawing to the iPhone

Gotow.net is pleased to announce the immediate availability of NetSketch 1.0. NetSketch brings full featured collaborative drawing to the iPhone and iPod Touch and is available today through the App Store.

NetSketch allows you to draw on the iPod's screen using a full range of colors and brush sizes. You can share drawings over the wireless network, and others using the NetSketch application can contribute to your work. As you draw, everyone's changes are reflected in real time. Play tic-tac-toe against your buddy or create an enormous masterpiece. Privacy controls let you permit only certain people to see your drawings, or you can disable sharing entirely.

Unlike other drawing programs, NetSketch features infinite pan and zoom based on familiar gestures. When you draw, your work is rendered in a fully scalable vector space - independent of the size of the iPhone's screen. When you zoom in, you get smooth, accurate lines - not huge pixels. You can draw at any level so it's easy to add detail to your work and you never run out of room.

Your drawing can be much larger than the iPod's screen and sometimes exporting a photo just doesn't do it justice. Using NetSketch, you can upload your work to my.netsketchapp.com and pan and zoom through it the same way you would on the iPod.

Please see the NetSketch web site for screenshots, uploaded drawings and additional feature information.

System Requirements:
iPhone or iPod Touch. Wireless network required for sharing features.

Pricing and Availability:
NetSketch is $7.99 USD, and is available for immediate download on the iTunes App Store.

Aria Touch brings FogBugz and Mentat Task Management to the iPhone

Aria Touch, from Black Pixel Luminance, turns your iPhone or iPod Touch into a standalone task management system. Aria Touch allows you to create local projects, tasks and contexts, and syncs with FogBugz 6.0 and Mentat, for great team collaboration opportunities. Aria Touch also supports the popular GTD contexts method as an option for categorizing any tasks assigned to you.

Seattle, WA - Coinciding with the opening of Apple's App Store for iPhone applications, Black Pixel Luminance is proud to announce Aria Touch to the public. Aria Touch turns your iPhone or iPod Touch into a standalone task management system.

Aria Touch can sync with accounts on the free Mentat social task management webservice, import tasks from FogBugz 6.0 for enterprise level bug tracking, create local projects just on your iPhone, or mix and match for great collaboration opportunities. "The goal is holistic life management, made simple and portable," explains Black Pixel Luminance CEO, Daniel Pasco.

Aria Touch provides a simple, to-do list oriented interface up front, so you can easily handle task checklists using the iPhone's sweep and delete gesture. Under the hood, Aria also provides a very powerful team task management application letting you share projects across multiple management applications, add comments, reassign tasks and receive up to date notification of new assignments or status changes.

Navigation options in Aria Touch are myriad, and include a personal Agenda view that serves as a sort of task inbox, with new and recurring tasks showing up among items you've included as things you need to work on that day. Tasks in the Agenda can be rearranged via drag and drop, and will also sync with any Agenda tasks in your Mentat account if you happen to have one.

You can choose a project view to see an inclusive list of local, Mentat, and FogBugz projects and drill down into individual tasks that way. The project view shows notification icons for any new tasks, and highlights your agenda items so it's easy to see what you are already working on. Support for even more project management applications, including Trac or Basecamp is planned for future releases.

Aria Touch also supports the popular GTD contexts method as an option for categorizing any tasks assigned to you. You can add a personal context like email, work, or home to any of your tasks, then browse using the context view to see only tasks in that context and keep focussed. If you're having trouble finding a task, there's also a project wide search that lets you type terms to isolate the task (or tasks) you're looking for.

"Aria Touch is definitely the best portable task management system we've seen so far, and we're very excited to introduce it among the first available iPhone apps," says software engineer Erik Fleuter. Black Pixel Luminance is also releasing a Fit for the iPhone this week, and promises there is more to come.

Aria Touch Features:
• Review, update, or assign tasks wherever you go. Sync with projects from FogBugz or Mentat or work in offline mode with access to your FogBugz and/or Mentat data.

• Browse tasks by project, GTD contexts, a day-at-a-glance agenda, or our built-in, project-wide search view.

• Projects, tasks and contexts can be created and maintained all from your iPhone.

• Team play for your tasks, letting you pass things back & forth and update status or comments from anywhere.

• Offline access to all of your data. This means you can add or update tasks when you're on a flight or out of coverage. Aria will sync your services once you have it back online.

• Touch screen features like delete gestures and drag & drop editing for quick task management on the go.

Minimum Requirements:
• iPhone or iPod touch

Masters Adds vid for iPhone 3G and Pushes for Mac Integration at Kunaki

Today TimeCode Mechanics will drop their original 3G version of "Wages of Sin" from their website opting to go with what they're calling an "iHub" version. "This version will play on iPods, iPhones and the new iPhone 3G." Says the Mac filmmaker. "Phones that play content, now have much more memory and can store and play the higher quality Quicktime mp4 versions of the film anyway."

Masters has also unveiled two new how-to books for DIY and low budget filmmakers: "Action Filmming" and "The Action Filmmaking Workbook". Together he calls them "The $23 Filmschool". Aiming the books at the no-budget filmmaking crowd and understanding the mentality Masters is keeping everything low priced. "They can get 'Action Filmmaking' for $9.95, (making it the lowest priced book on the subject) and 'The Action Filmmaking Workbook' for $12.95, respectively. But they can also download the film for only $1.99." Masters will also be releasing "Marketing Micro-Budget Movies" later this fall.

TimeCode Mechanics have also reduced the prices of their DVDs to fall in line with the overall process. The $12.95 hybrid DVD is now only $9.95 while the $19.95 two disc set sells now for $14.95 from the site. "Most people are NOT downloading. They buy DVDs still or do both. They like to have a solid object in hand, which I understand as I also own many DVDs myself."

Masters has also been pushing for Apple integration at state of the art DVD duplication service Kunaki. While the service offers the best pricing structure in the business for a shelf ready DVD and admit Apple integration is one of their biggest request, the stance of their website is, "Our software requires a PC, but you can use your favorite Mac or PC software to design disc, case, insert graphic files."

"Apple's Firewire is the very thing that allows people to do digital filmmaking as it's current incarnation. Apple filmmakers are a loyal base yet companies keep relying on the excuse that Apple is "unfriendly". This doesn't seem to ring true in 2008 considering the Mac share and freeware out there and companies like Mariner Software that makes Storymill, the screenwriting software "Montage 1.5" and other programs mainly for Mac." Says Masters. "It's a slap in the face to Mac filmmakers and users who're doing video."

AirStrip Technologies, L.P. Preps Revolutionary Medical Application for Apple iPhone 3G

AirStrip OB, which is already available for use on PDAs and Smartphones, will allow obstetricians to use their iPhones to remotely access virtual real-time and historical waveform data for both the mother and baby directly from the hospital’s labor and delivery unit utilizing only a cell phone connection. A beta version of the AirStrip OB iPhone application will be completed by the end of the month, with AirStrip OB scheduled to be available for use by physicians on iPhones during the fourth quarter of 2008.

“AirStrip Technologies is striving to improve patient safety by setting a new standard of care in the world of mobility and remote surveillance. Therefore, it only makes sense that we extend our application to one of the most innovative handheld devices available today,” said AirStrip Technologies’ President and CMO, Cameron Powell MD. “There is a group of truly groundbreaking medical applications now in various stages of development for the iPhone 3G, and we are proud to be on this prestigious list.”

The AirStrip OB iPhone application will provide users with multi-touch capabilities to quickly scroll and zoom through critical data, including contraction and fetal heart waveform patterns. The AirStrip OB iPhone version will be taking advantage of not only the expanded iPhone screen size, but also Apple’s newly announced push notification service to send alerts to physicians based on individual physician customization. Furthermore, AirStrip OB on the iPhone will allow doctors to add patients to a “My Patients” list that will help physicians navigate through data more efficiently when time is of the essence.

“The Apple iPhone 3G represents a quantum leap forward in handheld technology, and we know Apple is excited about our proven success and its possibilities on the iPhone,” said Trey Moore, CTO of AirStrip Technologies. “Our aggressive development schedule ensures that we will continue to realize our goals of delivering our products on any device utilizing any type of wireless connection. This ultimately places AirStrip OB within reach of virtually any hospital and doctor that wants to implement this technology to improve patient safety, mitigate risk and improve overall communication among caregivers.”

The FDA-cleared AirStrip OB solution is the only product of its kind available in the U.S. and is already in use in more than 40 hospitals and hospital chains using Microsoft’s Windows Mobile platform. The product allows secure access to this vital data, ensuring the physician can keep a close eye on patients’ progress from virtually anywhere.

In addition to its preparations to launch on the iPhone, AirStrip Technologies is also working on software solutions for other devices. More announcements are anticipated by the end of 2008.
