Netscape Navigator 9.0.0.6 - The Last-Ever Netscape Browser Release?

3021 Netscape has released what may well be the last-ever update of the Navigator browser, which incorporates the recent security patches included in inFirefox 2.0.0.12, as well as a new migration assistant to help those who will eventually be obliged to switch to a different browser if they want to stay with one that gets updated actively. Netscape is terminating support of Navigator after February 29.

Sadly, the little WatherBug plugin, a feature I like a lot, has been dropped from this ultimate Netscape revision. It's sad. I really like Navigator 9.x, which in the context of the Firefox 2 era is my favorite of the several Gecko rendering engine based browsers spun off Firefox, including Firefox 2 itself. However, Firefox 3, which I have been using in beta form for about a months now, is already leaps and bounds ahead, so while the demise of Netscape Navigator is very sad for those of us who cut our online teeth with Netscape, we're not exactly bereft of excellent alternatives to Navigator.
