MacWorld Attendees, Free FileMaker 10 iPhone Database and Website

FMWebschool announces a free MacWorld Expo contacts and exhibitor FileMaker 10 database for the Apple iPhone as well as a free FileMaker powered contacts and exhibitor website for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Instantly add all of your contacts and exhibitors to your iPhone. The FileMaker solution will enable you to enter and save all of your contact information immediately.

FMWebschool today announces a free MacWorld Expo contacts and exhibitor FileMaker 10 database for the Apple iPhone as well as a free FileMaker powered contacts and exhibitor website for the iPhone.

"I get really tired at trade shows collecting hundreds of business cards. I am constantly writing notes on the back of them, and half the time I forget why I even have them." cites Stephen Knight, VP of FMWebschool. "And, once I have the card, I still have to enter the information later, or scan them into my database before the information is of any value to me."

Why not enter the information into FileMaker instantly and save perhaps thousands of trees? What about if you meet an exhibitor that has some really cool products and you would like to talk to them later? It's easy to lose a business card, but what if that information is stored instantly into a FileMaker database? Imagine having the power of FileMaker in your pocket.

To coincide with the exciting new release of FileMaker 10, FMWebschool has created a FileMaker database that you can use on your iPhone or iPod touch. Using FMTouch (a FileMaker application on the Apple App store) attendees can quickly add new contacts to their iPhone. Meet someone famous, and you can quickly snap their picture and enter it into your FileMaker database. Meet someone really famous, simply tap the photo field in the FileMaker database and have them add their signature.

The FileMaker solution will enable you to enter and save all of your contact information immediately. Since FMTouch allows for multiple tables, the database also includes an exhibitors table. If you find an exhibitor that you really like and you would like to talk with them later, the exhibitor tracker enables you to enter all of their contact details as well as information on the location of their booth. FMTouch will also enable you to add, edit and delete, your records as well as password protect your information. FMTouch allows you to run FileMaker locally on your iPhone, no internet connection necessary.

Instant information at your fingertips! Now it would not be fair for us to offer a really cool FileMaker contacts solution to only FMTouch users only, so we have created a special contacts and exhibitors website for everyone else. This cool website is password protected and enables you to add contacts and exhibitor details. The website is free and was built with FileMaker 10. So you will be able to use your iPhone Safari browser to access the online website. You can add, edit, create and delete records, so have fun! No one else can see your information. The website is hosted courtesy of FMGateway.

So if you are an attendee at the MacWorld Expo and you don't want to be the guy carrying around 100 miscellaneous business cards or exhibitor's flyers, check out our contacts and exhibitors database. Now you can have instant information available to you in seconds.

HearPlanet Announces Double-Decker Tour Bus Launch Party at Macworld

HearPlanet turns your cell phone into a talking tour guide and literally 'Brings the world to your ears.' Released into Apple's iTunes App Store on Christmas Eve, HearPlanet quickly climbed into the top ten on Apples list of paid Travel applications. Now, to celebrate their recent debut, HearPlanet is hosting one of the most unique and memorable events in the history of Macworld and offering their application for free. (Regularly $3.99 in the iTunes App Store.)

HearPlanet is offering demonstrations of the application in and around the tour bus, each day of Macworld (January 6th - 9th), as well as complimentary rides between the Moscone Convention Center and nearby Macworld events. Along the way the bus will conduct mini tours of nearby San Francisco sights, demonstrating the power of HearPlanet's ability to deliver its location based audio info on-the-go.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (around 5pm) the bus switches to party mode as HearPlanet hosts a full-on San Francisco style DJ party. The party is portable and Macworld attendees are invited to climb aboard.

HearPlanet has partnered with San Francisco's Super Sightseeing Tours who've provided a double-decker tour bus for this event, as well as some of the content contained in HearPlanet's database of nearly 250,000 locations. HearPlanet adds locations and content to the system daily and new content is immediately available to all HearPlanet users.

Steven Echtman, HearPlanet's CEO, says, "Our partnership with Super Sightseeing Tours proves our ability to quickly add partners and their content to our system. Our information architecture is built to rapidly scale and seamlessly provide additional content to our users as it becomes available."

Macworld attendees can get real-time updates on where the bus is and where it's stopping next by following 'HearPlanet' on Twitter.

As a limited time promotion, the HearPlanet application is available for free during this week's Macworld.

Boingo Brings WI-FI Connections To Mac And iPhone Users

Boingo Wireless continues to broaden its support for the Apple platform on all levels, first with Boingo software for the Macintosh and now with its recent introduction of Boingo Mobile for iPhone and iPod Touch.

With the Boingo laptop software, the Mac community has a convenient and affordable way to access Boingo Wi-Fi at more than 100,000 hotspots worldwide. The software simplifies the process of logging in to Wi-Fi hotspots, and is a great tool for people who want high-speed Internet without the hassle of searching for coverage, memorizing multiple usernames and passwords, and paying different Wi-Fi providers at various locations.

The introduction of the Boingo Wireless application in the iTunes App Store complements the built-in Wi-Fi capability on the iPhone and iPod Touch. With a Boingo Mobile account, iPhone and iPod Touch users can use the new Boingo application to log into more than 100,000 locations around the world; the cost of the Boingo application in the iTunes store is free, while the monthly cost for worldwide access with Boingo Mobile is $7.95 per month.

"The Apple community is made up early adopters and highly mobile users around the globe. They're perfect for Boingo – whether they are surfing online with an iPhone or iPod Touch, or sitting in a café doing work on their laptops," said David Hagan, CEO and president, Boingo Wireless. "With Boingo and Boingo Mobile, we are providing the ideal way to get online around the world, helping people get and stay connected when they need to be online, everywhere they want to be."

According to usage reports from airport Wi-Fi networks operated by Boingo, there has been a steady increase in Wi-Fi connections from MacBooks and PowerBooks. As of January 2008, nearly 20 percent of airport usage comes from Mac laptops, an increase of 30 percent since January 2007. For the mobile market, in June 2007, the handheld device traffic logging on through Boingo operated airport hotspots was less than 1 percent of all unique visitors. In November 2008, the handheld device traffic was almost 19 percent of all visitors. iPhone and iPod Touch comprise more than 84 percent of those unique handheld device users.

Phone game Torus is now 99 cents and integrated with Facebook

Developers Mark Morris and Dave Florek have introduced a Facebook application for monitoring the high score table hosted at PlayTorus for their iPhone and iPod Touch game Torus. Torus High Scores is available now on the Facebook application directory, enabling players to follow the action from their profiles.

Also announced is a price reduction on Torus from $1.99 to 99 cents for 2009. Torus is an iPhone original - catch tori as they fall from the sky by tilting your device to slide the base hook around the play area. You take damage each time a torus hits your base or the floor, but you can replace health points by catching the glowing green tori that appear when you are in danger. You get one chance per game, but lots of health points to start with. Torus features ambient background music, and immersive gameplay that you can master in seconds.

Sound effects are placed in 3D space as they occur, synchronized catch, bump and miss locational sound effects combine with an intensifying pace to enhance accelerometer interaction. The deceptive simplicity of the game design and intuitive interface allow casual gamers to enjoy a commute or a break, while enabling more serious gamers to compete for recognition on the global online high score table. Torus is available on the iTunes App Store now.
