The Sun's Jonathan Weinberg reports:

Apple's iPod has been crowned the Best Gadget of All Time in the Oscars of the technology world.

The digital music player was the runaway winner at the bash, taking the most-coveted gong, as voted for by readers of The Sun online.

In total, the firm went home with SIX trophies from the T3 Gadget Awards including the other most prestigious one of the night - the Most Anticipated for 2008 for its iPhone, which is out [in the UK] next month.

iPod Named All Time Best Gadget Ever

Digital Journal says:

The T3 Gadget Awards considered as the Oscars of the technology world, selects iPod as the Best Gadget of All time. Also, iPhone, iTunes, Mac Laptop won other top technology awards. The digital music player iPod was the runaway winner in the Best Gadget of All Time category over other products like Sony Walkman, Sony PS2, and Nintendo Gameboy. It is hard to pick over these classic products, but iPods generated the more buzz and embraced a wide range of spectrum from the young to the old unlike other products. So, it is a worthy winner in this category. Apple won six major awards in the T3 Gadget Awards. The iPhone won the other major prestigious award, "The Most Anticipated for 2008."....

Apple really does appear to be an unstoppable force right now....

Review - iPod Touch

The Register's Nick Hawkesmoor reports:

Apple may be keen to tout the Touch's 3.5in display, but the first thing you notice about the new iPod is how thin it is. Front to back it measures 8mm - on paper not as thin as the 6.5mm thick iPod Nano, but you'd never really know unless you measured them both. The point is, the Touch is supremely skinny.

It's hard to describe the Touch without constantly referring to the iPhone, so closely do the two resemble each other. The Touch's display is surrounded by black plastic, and both screen and bezel do indeed appear to be protected by a sheet of glass. Below the screen is the Home button, and bordering the player is gunmetal-grey edging onto which the iPod-standard chrome-look backplate clips.

A Water Sensor in iPhone and iPod Touch!?

HardMac's Lionel says:

Let's say you drop accidentally your iPhone in water (not sea water as salt will be easily spotted), you can always try to send it back to Apple Support for having it repair under warranty. To avoid such behavior, Apple has included a water sensor in the iPhone and in the iPod Touch....
