iPods Can Cause Heart Pacemakers To Malfunction
The Intependent's Roger Dobson reports:
In only six years, the small, plastic device that can hold your entire record collection has revolutionised the way we listen to music, changed society and turned the ailing Apple computer company into the dominant force in the download music industry. But researchers are so concerned about new evidence of potential effects of MP3 players on heart pacemakers that a major clinical investigation is to start this month.
The trial comes in the wake of a report earlier this year that iPods may cause pacemaker interference in up to half of patients. A study in Michigan in the US found that when an iPod was held 2 inches from a patient's chest for five to 10 seconds it interfered with pacemakers in half the 100 patients, whose average age was 77.

iPod nano 8GB Review
Digital Trends' Jason Tomczak reports:
"The 3rd generation iPod nano is one of the most enticing iPods Apple has ever produced.."
Apple recently released its third generation iPod nano. Unlike the standard iPod (now callediPod Classic), the nano has been subject to major revisions and design improvements since it was first released in 2005. The most recent iteration reveals a new, tighter shape and size, a bigger LCD screen, video playback and more. The 8GB version sells for $199 USD while the 4GB can be had for just $149 USD. All the iPod hype and iconic status aside, any media player has to produce excellent sound, render quality video and it must remain easy to use. We gave the iPod nano a thorough drubbing to see how it stood up to our scrutiny. Check out our review to find out if the new nano is right for you or for someone on your gift list.
