Orange sells 30,000 iPhones in five days
IDG News Service's Peter Sayer reports:
French mobile phone operator Orange sold 30,000 iPhones in the five days following its Nov. 29 launch, the company said Wednesday.
In comparison, German operator T-Mobile said it sold 10,000 on Nov. 9, the day the phone went on sale there. Apple's U.K. partner O2 said the phone is its fastest-selling ever, but refused to give sales figures.

Apple's iPhone Sales Sluggish in Europe
newsfactor.com's Richard Koman reports:
After five days of sales, French wireless carrier Orange has sold 30,000 iPhones, the company announced Wednesday. Louis-Pierre Wenes, Orange's executive director for France operations, said the number was "a very good score," and added that half of the iPhone sales are accompanied by a new Orange subscription.
Orange's parent, France Telecom, had set a goal of selling 100,000 iPhones by the end of the year. Considering sales volume is typically higher immediately after a product launch, Orange will be hard-pressed to hit those goals in the three weeks remaining in December.
In Germany, T-Mobile said it sold 10,000 iPhones on the first day. And in the UK, O2 said the iPhone was its fastest selling unit ever, but refused to provide numbers.

iPhone Browsing Market Share Demonstrates Usability Drives Use
Blackfriars' Marketing reports:
Net Applications reports that in November 2007, iPhone browsing market share was 0.09% - nearly 0.1% - of all browsers in their sample. Now that may not seem like much until you compare it with the share for all Windows Mobile/Windows CE devices, which only tip the scales at 0.06%. Said another way, the approximately 2.5 million iPhones sold to date are being used about five times more than the nearly 7 million Windows Mobile phones sold over the past six years.
