Review: Apple iWork 08 office software
vnunet.com reports:
Theres been a Mac version of Microsoft Office for years, but Microsoft doesnt make a Mac version of its less-expensive Works suite for home users. So, a couple of years, ago, Apple stepped in and came up with its own suite called iWork.
The original iWork suite consisted of just two programs: a combined word processor and desktop publishing program called Pages, and a presentation program called Keynote. These have both been upgraded in iWork 08, but the biggest change is the inclusion of Numbers, which is an entirely new spreadsheet program.

iWork 08 Media Browser Aperture Tip
The Enquirer's Erik Vlietinck says:
As you may know, Aperture allows you to turn on or off preview creation at import time. Generating thumbnails can take a long time with Aperture, even on a fast computer like a Mac Pro, simply because the thumbnails Aperture creates are high-quality previews. These previews can be used under different circumstances, and will show you how the image looks, even when the original isnt available on your system.

Pages 3.0: Tab Used As Shortcut To Change Indent Levels In Automatic Lists
Betalogue's Pierre Igot reports:
The latest version of Pages features a number of minor adjustments and improvements, some of which are undeniably good news, such as the support for thin borders in tables and the customizable colour for invisibles, mentioned yesterday.
Other improvements are, lets say, more questionable. For example, Pages can now automatically detect lists, like Microsoft Word, but thankfully that automatic feature can be turned off altogether (under Auto-Correction in the preferences). Similarly, Pages 3.0 now has an automatic completion feature when entering stuff in table cells, which is both potentially useful and hopelessly dumb, depending on what you fill your tables with, but again, thankfully, the feature can be turned off.
