Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac 2.0 (Beta 2)

4514 Remote Desktop Connection Client lets you connect to a Microsoft Windows-based computer and work with programs and files on that computer from your Macintosh computer. Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac 2.0 (Beta 2) includes the following new features:

• Universal Binary
Runs natively on both Intel-based and PowerPC-based Macs.
• Remote Desktop Protocol 6.0
Provides better compatibility with Windows Vista, improved security features, and many other improvements.
• Improved User Experience
Provides a true Mac experience and improved usability.
• Improved Customization Options
Lets you change application preferences, including keyboard shortcuts, while you are running a session. Changes take effect the next time that you connect.
• Dynamic Screen Resizing
Lets you resize your session window or switch to full-screen mode during a session.
• Improved Printing Support
Supports all configured printers on your Mac. No longer limited to PostScript printers.
• Multiple Sessions (Improved in Beta 2)
Improvements to File menu commands and connection files let you connect to multiple Windows-based computers at the same time.
• Network Level Authentication (NLA) Support (New in Beta 2)
Helps provide greater security when connecting to computers running Windows Vista.
• Auto Reconnect (New in Beta 2)
Supports automatic reconnection when a network connection to a remote session is lost.
• Wide Screen Support (New in Beta 2)
Supports optimal resolution settings for wide screen displays.

Currently, Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac 2.0 (Beta 2) is only available in English, and supports only US English keyboards. Technical support is not available for this beta release.

For more information, including a list of known issues, see the Read Me for this application. After you install Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac 2.0 (Beta 2), open it, and then on the Help menu, click Read Me.

This Beta release expires on March 31, 2008.

System requirements

To use this application, your computer must meet the following minimum requirements:
• Processor: Intel Core processor, 500 MHz or faster PowerPC G4, or PowerPC G5.
• Operating system: Mac OS X version 10.4.9 or a later version.
• Memory: 128 MB of RAM.
• Hard disk: 13 MB of available hard disk space.

Note The hard disk should be in Mac OS Extended (HFS+) format, the default format for Mac. Microsoft currently does not support running Remote Desktop Connection from a hard disk that is in another format.

• Network: Connection to a local area network.
• Internet access: Internet connection through either an Internet service provider (ISP) or a network. Internet access might require a fee to an ISP; local or long-distance telephone charges might also apply.

Note To verify that your computer meets these minimum requirements, on the Apple menu, click About This Mac, and then click More Info.

To connect to a Windows-based computer, you must have network access and permissions to connect to a Windows-based computer that is running Terminal Services or Remote Desktop Services. These services are included with the following Windows products:
• Windows Vista Business
• Windows Vista Enterprise
• Windows Vista Ultimate
• Windows XP Professional
• Windows Server 2003
