Press Release Edited By Applelinks Contributing Editor Charles W. Moore

Convenience is the name of the game for Mac users who want to communicate instantly with family, friends and colleagues from one convenient place. To help you do this, we've created our first Universal application: Microsoft Messenger for Mac. Messenger gives you more ways to share what's on your mind whether you are at work or play. And now you can take advantage of all these features on both PowerPCs and Intel-based Macs.

Streamline your Word for Mac workflow by using Messenger directly from Word to send a document to a colleague or initiate an instant message conversation.

Stay in touch with friends, family and colleagues from one convenient place. The new Messenger runs on Intel Macs, includes new collaboration features and it's available for FREE.

New Features

Communicate with Yahoo! Friends
Now you can use Messenger to chat with your Yahoo! friends as well as your Messenger friends all from the same place.

Send Custom Emoticons
Create your own custom emoticons and instantly send them to your friends.

Display a Personal Message or Your Current iTunes Song
In addition to changing your display name, you can now create your own personal message or even display the song or podcast that you're listening to in iTunes!

Show Separate Contact List Windows
Instead of having tabs for your Personal and Corporate accounts, Messenger now has a separate window for each account.

Additional Features using Live Communications Server

Secure Business Messaging
Chat securely behind your corporate firewall with Live Communications Server 2005. Maximize communication while keeping control of critical company information.

Public IM Support
If your organization uses Live Communications Server 2005, you can chat with outside contacts on additional networks including AOL, AIM, MSN and iChat.

Synchronized Status
Control the status of your personal and business accounts by synchronizing them or setting one to 'busy'? while the other one indicates you are online.

Global Address Look-up
Easily add contacts from your company's global address list to your contacts list if you are on a corporate network using Live Communications Server 2005.

Encrypted file transfer when using LCS
If you work in a business environment using Live Communication Server 2005, you can download Messenger for Mac for additional file transfer security
