793 prMac - Coming less than four months after its last major release, which delivered a range of application enhancements from image attachments, route journals, enhanced toolbar customization features and advanced file handling, version 1.6 of Peacock Media's Macintosh-based Meander application for route plotting and distance measuring has been released today.

Since its launch a year ago, Meander has become a popular favorite of Mac users seeking to plot points, plan routes and measure distances using any map, including maps that have been scanned or found on the web. Routes can be saved for later reference, exported or printed and shared with others. In addition to the map plotting feature, Meander lets users plan, plot, and manipulate routes and measure distances in real time. Files can be exported to JPEG or printed as a PDF. The Meander application has been optimized for compatibility with Mac OS X 10.2 and later, including Mac OS X "Tiger" on Intel and PowerPC Macs.

Meander 1.6 Enhancement Details

Circle and Ellipse Route Add-Ins: In Version 1.6, Meander enables users to add a colored circle or ellipse to their route plan. Easily invoked via the Add Image Attachment function, the circle or ellipse once added can be double-clicked to view or change properties such as color, line width, shape and comments. The shapes can be repositioned anywhere within the window via a simple drag and drop utility.

Distance Markers: Also new in Version 1.6 is a distance marker enhancement that can be added to the route at fixed intervals such as every mile or every ten kilometers. The markers look like waypoints and display the distance.
