Press release edited by Applelinks senior editor Kirk Hiner
Mariner Software today announced the release of Desktop Poet 1.0, the only "fridge poetry" application for the desktop of the Macintosh.
Desktop Poet presents the user with hundreds of word tiles on the Mac desktop or "virtual fridge" area, and by forming the words into sentences or phrases, gives the user the ability to compose imaginative prose or to formulate specific brainstorming ideas. Desktop Poet visually helps the poet or brainstormer create clearer thinking, more imaginative projects, and better organized writing by expanding on the free flowing thought process.
"Desktop Poet takes the magnetic poetry kits from millions of refrigerators around the world and puts it on the desktop of a Macintosh," said Michael Wray, president of Mariner Software. "This release will not only appeal to poets, screenwriters, and playwrights, but also the doodler and brainstormer in us all."
The full-featured trial version requires Mac OS 10.2 or higher and can be downloaded at the company's website free of charge. The shipping version will intially be offered in English and sells for $19.95US. Support for other language versions is expected in the near future.
