After years of waffling, I've finally gone high-definition. I've had an HD television for several years, but didn't pay for enough HD content to take advantage of the hardware. There were many reasons for my reluctance to upgrade, but chief among them was cost. There just wasn't much HD available (even on HD channels most shows weren't in HD) and it wasn't worth the cost. Also, I'm addicted to time-shifting with my Tivo, which meant I couldn't even consider HD unless I had a way to record it.
However, things have changed. More HD content is available today -- not only more channels, but more shows. The costs of equipment have dropped. Back when I got my TV an HD Tivo was over a thousand dollars. Now you can get one for under $300. Satellite and cable companies have their own DVR systems, too, and the prices are not bad.
