Last year's event captured the excitement and interest of tens of thousands of Mac using members, who solved puzzles and searched for clues throughout the event. The first MacHeist bundle, sold for a week during December, 2007, and was snapped up by over 16,000 customers, who raised $200,000 for various international charities.
This time around, the MacHeist cofounders are promising deeper, more rewarding missions, and an even more spectacular bundle.
The first mission will begin on Thursday. For now, members are being prepared with two free MacHeist apps for their experience: an online chat client, and a direct MacHeist news feed aggregator, for "secure lines of communication".
