Mac OS (PPC/Intel/iPhone Combined) Market Share 6.7% And Safari 5.07 % In September

1089 Net Applications Inc. has posted its Operating System and Web Browser market share reports for September, and Apple products continue to gain ground.

On the operating system front, it's now pretty much an even split between the PowerPC and MacIntel versons of OS X at 3.38% and 3.23% respectably, with the iPhone version of OS X registering 0.07%, putting it in 13th place in its own right ahead of Windows CE, The total combined Mac OS market share (Mac PPC + MacIntel + iPhone ) is 6.68%, in third place nipping at the heels of Windows Vista (7.38%). Windows XP remains way out in front a 79.32%.

Over in the Web Browser column, Safari continued to consolidate its hold on third place at 5.07%, albeit well back of Internet Explorer (77.86%) and Firefox (14.88%) My own personal favorite browser, Opera, is in fourth, but with a mere 0.87% ( commentary note: if more people would try Opera for long enough to get used to it, I'm inclined to think its share would spike upward)
