Mac OS Posts Another Market Share Gain In June

908 NetApplications HitsLink have posted Operating System Market Share stats for June, 2008, showing the Mac OS continuing to gain ground on Windows, now with 7.94 percent of the OS market, or a smidge over eight percent when the iPhone is factored in (combined total 8.1%).

Here's Operating System Total Market Share rundown of the significant players:

Windows 90.89%
Mac 7.94%
Linux 0.80%
iPhone 0.16%

Comparing longer term, at 90.89% Windows is down a little over four percent since May 2006 (95.09%), while the Mac OS at 7.94% has not quite doubled its share over the same interval from 4.43% in May '06, and Linux has exactly doubled its from 0.40% to 0.80 percent.

In terms of versions:

Microsoft Windows:
- XP: 71.20%
- Vista: 16.14%

Apple Mac OS
- Intel: 5.25%
- PowerPC: 2.69%

Apple iPhone: 0.16%

Apple iPod: 0.04%

Hitslink also posted June, 2008 Browser Market Share stats yesterday, sholwing Firefox back up to 19.03 percent, with Safari fading just a little to 6.31 percent.
